Turns out the set screw just above the trigger had come loose, and worked itself partially out.  The gunsmith I took it to cleaned the entire firearm and tightened that screw ½ turn, and now the pistol seems to work correctly with snapcaps.  I'll need to take it to the range and run some ammo through it to see if the problem shows up again.

Set screw, sounds like it’s not the OEM trigger.

Beats me, but it came straight from CZ to the LGS, with no custom work done on it that i know of.  Couldn't find that particular part in the parts list in the diagram, so I can't even tell you exactly what its called.  :-)  Or maybe I'm calling it a set screw and it is just a regular screw, but it looks like a set screw to me.

Is the "set screw" you're talking about the "magazine catch spring screw"? Pretty sure the trigger will not function properly if the catch screw comes loose...

After reading this thread, I took my 2019 97B out to locktite the LCI screw, but it already had some on there.

After seeing this PSA, I decided to check my LSI on new 97b.  I did not remove screw, I was afraid I was going to break my Allen wrench trying to loosen screw.  I had put 50 rnds through it.  I decided mine was tight enough.
