P01 Trigger Pin Removal Question
« on: April 10, 2021, 02:26:52 AM »
Hello Guys,

I would like to replace my P01 trigger pin with the CGW floating pin unit.  I already have the parts and center punch needed to do the job.

Just a couple of questions though:
1. The factory trigger pin appears to be flared equally on both ends.  Is there a preferred (or proper) direction to drift the pin out?

2.  Is there a possibility that as the factory pin is driven out, the frame hole for trigger pin can get enlarged as the pin is pushed out?  I wouldn't be so concerned if the frame is steel, but on an aluminum frame I'm thinking this could happen?

Thanks in advance! 8)

From the CZ armory manual, you drive the pin out right to left.  So you would place the punch on the ejection port side of pin.

Just did this on my PCR yesterday (along with the reduced power TRS) - piece of cake.

for the direction the pin comes out, I think it can vary between guns.  When I installed the MCarbo kit, I seem to remember that I had a little difficulty tapping mine out at first until I looked harder at the flared end and realized it was opposite the instructions in the video.

On second thought, that might have been the firing pin retaining pin that I had to remove opposite the video.

Just make sure you identify which end is flared on YOUR gun before you assume it and start punching, inadvertently with excessive force.  On my RPFP, I ended up marring one of the slide serrations slightly before it occurred to me to try punching it out from the other side.

1. As a rule of thumb I go out right to left, in left to right on all pins. Some pins and rear sights are in this direction so to avoid confusion, all go this direction.

2. If you use an over size punch, yes you could damage the hole.

Let it be know that the Starter Punch is only used to start the Trigger Pin out or collapse the flare and push it into the frame hole a bit. The pin is then driven the rest of the way out with a standard punch, smaller than the size of the Trigger Pin hole.

I am not convinced that the direction that you drive the Trigger Pin out is of significant consequence.

May your tuning go well.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Excellent advice about the starter punch.

I should clarify, ........really it doesn’t make a difference. [emoji6] Drive out which ever way is less flared, I just go R to L for muscle memory. [emoji85][emoji86][emoji87]

it isn't a conventional pin - it is a tube that is flared on both sides.

as posted above - pick the less flared direction to start from
