what P-07 spring combination?
« on: March 13, 2021, 08:39:53 AM »
I'm looking for info, and actual experiences with, what CGW spring combination will help my new P-07 trigger pull weights.  Yes, I know I could go either the CGW standard or pro package, but want to explore simpler options first.  So, I thought I'd might start with an extended firing pin, with the reduced FP spring, and a different hammer spring.  MY questions on this approach are below.  Note that I am not trying to create a competition gun, but one that is reliable and for possible personal protection use (target being 8# DA, and 4.5# SA pulls - or so).
- which of the CGW hammer springs works best and reliably:  1.5#, 13#, 15#, 18#?
- note that I will use a reduced power plunger spring (and plunger will have surface polished smooth too)

And with each / any of the hammer springs, how will they affect (improve / reduce) trigger pull?

I run a factory firing pin with CGW's 15 lb hammer spring and firing pin return spring, along with their trigger return spring, in both of my P-07's.  I get 100% primer detonations in both with the various ammo I use, which does not include Wolf or Tula steel case stuff, but does include S&B and Privi Partizan brass case stuff.

what trigger improvements (in pull weight, smoothness etc) do you see with the 15# hammer spring, matching firing pin return spring, and trigger return spring?  Thanks

It's a pretty big improvement in the DA pull over the factory springs.  Depending on your particular preferences and the specifics of your particular pistol, it may be good enough, or maybe not.  The next steps to improve your DA pull would be to do the polishing steps described in the tuning thread on this forum, and to measure and replace your DA roller with one from CGW.

The DA roller and comp hammer will make the biggest improvement in trigger feel.

I did not go with a full CGW kit in my P07 and three P09s. I have installed the extended firing pin w/spring, reduced power Fp block spring, reduced power TRS and 18# hammer springs. I have deburred and polished parts as well and the results have been very good. I have one P09 that I went with a 15# hammer spring and I can feel a slight difference and have had no issues with it.

While you are re-springing, you can also make some pretty significant improvements to the feel with some strategic polishing.  Mine wasn't what I would have considered bad in comparison to my worked over SP01 or S2, but was transformed by an hour and change of elbow grease.
