It really depends on how exotic you go. I chose a relatively exotic wood and then had him customize with the shadowing, so they were more expensive than a "standard" set of wood grips from him. Not that his "standard" grips aren't equally as pretty or are lacking in workmanship, because if his website is any indication, the man does not make an ugly grip.
Just to give you an idea, with shipping, these grips cost me around 20% of the purchase price of the gun. Yes that is a little spendy, but in my opinion they are worth every penny.
