Even better. Use a #1 phillips screw driver in the hole to pull the locking assembly instead of the slot. Harrington even makes a round tool to do that. A screw driver is cheaper.... ;)

Round tool or cheap screw driver . . . either is better than screwing up a perfectly good magazine!  ;D

I have also found a L shaped Allen wrench works great. It keeps your hands closer together so I have better control.

I like to use a big Allen wrench too. For me, it's much easier than a screw driver.

Also, I wish someone had offered me this advice when I first got my CZ 52: AVOID REMOVING THE GRIPS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! It's hard to get the retaining clip off without scratching up the grips. I'm glad I learned this before springing for nice wood grips.

Thanks for the heads-up. I followed your link and ordered one of the "unissued" CZ 52's. All I can say is WOW. Not a single mark or blemish. The thing looks like it rolled off the production line this morning. The date is a '54. The holster (also pristine) is stamped '87. If I had the money, I'd go back and order another before they are out. Definitely well worth what I paid.

Mine looks amazing now that I cleaned it up.  I'm actually on the fence as to whether I should shoot it or not, which will be a first for me, haha.  I imagine in the end I will break down and put some rounds through it, but if anyone is looking for a 52, I really can't recommend the ones at CzechPoint enough :)

Come on SHOOT it, even better do it at an indoor range!!

Back in 1991-92 I used to shoot the military ammo indoors, flames coming out the barrell 3 feet, the LOUDEST bang there was. As soon as a crowd gathered arround I would slip in a magazine full of Fiochi Boxer ammo. I would then drill the magazine inside a quarter or less sometings. (could never do that with the military ammo)

Now the local Clark County Las Vegas gun range has night shooting on Wednesday night. If I am ever home on a Wednesday I am deffinitely taking the CZ52 first, and maybe I will have my 1911 in 7.62x25 by then too.

Once in a while I loaded the reloads a max, just awesome bang. But the j=gun always shoots more accurately with 1200 -1300 feet per second loads. I had a Marine sniper shoot it inside a quarter at 25 yards so I know the gut will shoot better than I ever could.

But the CZ52 is just so much fun, you got to shoot it.
