After a good wring out I've identified three general areas that need to be addressed: grips, magazines, and springs.
Grips: The standard plastic grips are just too wide around the palm swell, measuring 1.39" across with my calipers. That width makes it problematic to hit the mag release without significantly altering my grip. I have a set of tiger stripe VZ G10 grips on the way to reduce the thickness to 1.208" and improve the looks in the process.
Magazines: the steel base plates pinch my side something fierce when carrying a spare on my belt on the off side, particularly while driving as my car has heavily bolstered front seats. I have some rubber covered base plates on the way to fix that. Also, the mag springs are getting replaced with CZ Custom +5% springs, as I have noticed one or two instances of rounds nosediving into the feed ramp. That has only happened when I slap the bottom of the mag hard enough to auto forward the slide, but once is too many.
Springs: I've had one or two instances where the slide has failed to return to battery during a reload (I drop the slide using the slide release) or after retracting it to do a chamber check. I'm replacing the recoil spring with a factory original to see if that problem goes away. The slide is well lubricated in its tracks, BTW.
This gun is going to become my go to IDPA SSP tool, so some support gear is needed as well. I have a Winthrop leather pancake holster and a Big Dog kydex dual mag pouch on the way, as well as a third magazine (MecGar) to get me kitted up. Everything should be here well before the next IDPA match so I'll have time to wring everything out.
