Took my CZ 85b and my Tristar Canik L-120 (alloy frame full size). Gotta say that the finish on the CZ looks better.
Fired the CZ first. Did have a failure to feed around the middle of the first magazine. Was using the Mecgar magazine that came with the Canik, so I thought I would try another magazine that came with the CZ.
Before I used the CZ again, I used the Canik. Wow, the difference in recoil caught me by surpirse on the first shot, probably due to the alloy frame. Ran flawlessly, using the CZ magazine.
Another 2 different magazines with the CZ and 1 more failure to feed on each magazine. These were my reloads I was using. I was thinking, what the heck. In the meantime, I fired 2 more magazines with the Canik, all perfect.
After going through 50 rounds on each pistol with reloads. I decided to focus on the CZ ftf. I happened to have a box of factory Fiocchi 9mm. I thought that maybe it needed some lube so I lubed it. Been a year since I cleaned and lubed it. Ran 40 rounds of the Fiocchi without a hiccup. I put 10 rounds of the Fiocchi through the Canik and it too ran without a hiccup.
Still wondering if the FTF's were partially caused by a weakened recoil spring. The recoil spring is the original and has almost 2,000 round through it. Any input would be appreciated on the life span of a recoil spring and whether that could have been a contributing factor that was helped with oil.
Accuracy between the CZ and the Canik was about the same. Both are great pistols.
