Sounds like you've got it figured out, found a gun that she likes, and will soon have a dealer (named by EAA).  Not much else to do, now, but get your paperwork in order.

Hope she enjoys it.

The nice part is that with that gun, she can upgrade to a larger caliber with a conversion kit/top end.

Walt,
In the reading I've done I've not heard of being able to change the calibers.  What's it take to change up to a 40 and what kind of cost would we be looking at?

I genuinely appreciate the education and your time.

Duffy,

It may be as simple as swapping barrels.  With the .40, 9mm, and 10mm guns.  At worst, you may have to buy a new top end.  (With most Witnesses, the 9mm and .40 mags are interchangeable, if they are made for the proper frame size.)

With some Witness models, the .40 and 9mm have the same barrel diameter, and the barrels is built so that the extractor and headspace are correct when the barrel is changed.  (I have one like that, but mine came with a separate top end; I can just swap barrels, too.)

When you talk to EAA again, ask about it.  It may be much simpler than you might think.

Well now it is not just a barrel or upper change on the Limited really.  I mean it is theoretically possible IF you could get extras for that frame, but that is unlikely.  The Limited uses a cone locking bull barrel that is longer than the other such models.  I inquired about getting a 10mm barrel for my 40 Stock (uses a similar barrel to the Limited) and was told not likely.  They tend to only stock the standard model barrels.  Uppers for a Limited are also not a commonly stocked part.  The Limited is a pretty different gun in quite a few respects.

Having said that, a plain upper might fit but would look a little odd on an Elite series frame.  As several have pointed out, base Witnesses are quite cheap so If you want a different caliber I would just do that.  Or buy another Limited...

:D

Any excuse to buy a gun is a good one in my book.

GR

I had a Witness Sport Long Slide in .45, and a standard 10mm upper.  The 10mm (standard, not long slide) worked fine, and you didn't really notice the difference in length until you laid the slides side by side.

Just talk with EAA to see what your options are.

I got a price on the Witness Elite (list $999) of $879.   Seems a bit high.  Anyone know a dealer in the northeast that might do better??

Thiuss thread keeps getting moved but no explanation as to why or to where it was moved.  Can someone clue me in?

Thanks,

I thought its been in the CLONE CLUB for quite some time...

Usually, when we move a message, we leave a link in the old location that moves you to the new one.

This thread is simply moving down in the stack as action occurs in other threads.  This is quite normal.  You may have to go to another page to find it, but it has not moved from the original sub-forum.
