A compact with a red dot sight looks funny (as Vinny mentioned, it's a slide width to sight width thing) but it works just fine. My wife is very happy with her CZ75 Compact (same slide as a P01 except for the model name stamped on the side) with the DP Pro on it.
Thanks M1A for that image.
Yes, the DPpro is an excellent optic; the #1 RDS in USPSA carry-optics competition. However a little bulky for EDC
compact carry IMO. I really thought the Shield RMS was going to be the ideal set-up; and now that I've gone through all the issues with it maybe it will be; but I'm just disappointed in the Shield quality. For considerably less $ you can get the Venom (or Viper) a much better optic with Vortex's excellent lifetime warranty. Burris FF3 is almost identical btw but I chose the Venom because of the two vertical rear sight markings. I also prefer the top-loading battery of the Venom over the Viper, but some feel the Viper fits the compact better.
I forgot to mention the Trijicon RMR, probably the #1 rated for durability. However, the mounting pattern of RMR is too wide for the CZ-75's narrow slide and requires an extra mounting plate. CZ Custom has an excellent milled-in multi-optic plate (I think CGW too) that works great for the full-size (I have one with DPPro on my SP-01 and it's a superb set-up) and I assume it works on the compacts but they would know better. In any case I personally find the reticle 'window' of the RMR too small. JMO
Ohh, and there's also the SIG Romeo 1 RDS. Another good optic, have one on my 229 LEGION RX. The automatic shut-off after like 45 seconds drives me nuts though. I find it's just better to avoid the motion activation and manually turn off and on when needed. Especially in competition.
Sorry if I've thrown too much info out there; just thought I'd share my learning curve to hopefully help others. In the end; I'm convinced RDS is the way to go, especially for aging eyes! -Vinny
