I have a SD insurance policy. Let the lawyers haggle the ammo part out.

My rule of thumb is ?whatever your local Leo?s carry.
What is the reasoning behind that?
This is the old taboo where your defensive ammo could be used against you in court so they think if they shoot what the police use they are protected against that. Obviously the reality is the ammo matters none but what is paramount is whether you had the legal right to use deadly force to begin with. If you are in court then that is the question at hand. This has always been a nonsense argument as no one can ever come up with a case where it's actually happened.
I think Massad Ayoob started the rumor years ago but even he doesn't actually cite a real case that I've ever heard.
Massad Ayoob states little in the way of case law. ::)

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I was curious why the poster made that statement, and speculated it was internet lore.

The only way using a particular type of ammo will get you in trouble with the law is if you use ammo prohibited by law.  Period.

There is no case anywhere where an otherwise legal shooting was made illegal by otherwise legal ammo or legal modifications to firearms.

Like N330, it's a Myth.

I am out of the loop, what is up with N330 and why is it a myth?

It was in the catalogs for a while, but never available.

Since the Vit reorganization it seems to be available again.

Vihtavuori powders seem to be a little higher priced than other premium powders. I have never tried Vihtavuori and wonder if the extra cost makes it worthwhile.

Some say yes, others no.

I use N320. I believe it was Recoilguy that pointed out that it amounted to an extra penny a round. I think it's worth it. I like that it's a single based powder. I'm a low volume pistol shooter.

On the other hand, I'm using Vectan shotgun powders which amount to a penny a round less...because the higher priced spread doesn't warrant the extra cost. I like that they are single based, also.

I don't know. Maybe Win 231/HP38 is as good. Never used it.
