New kadet kit owner
« on: May 25, 2020, 08:55:43 PM »
Hi,
Is there consensus around what's needed to have the kadet kit work properly?

Thanks,
           M.

It depends on the host frame/Kadet combo. Generally factory setup gun will work with Kadet kit after minor fitting described in the Kadet manual.
If you changing host frame mainspring to lighter ones you may get a light strikes and need some fiddling with Kadet firing pin and FP springs.
Start with high velocity ammo (CCI MiniMags are great) to break it in, keep it lubed. Later you can switch to standard velocity ammo.

Which KADET Kit ?
What Frame ?
What issues are you experiencing ?
What Ammo are you using ?

I have a CZ75 KADET (1) that runs 100% on both; My B-SA and Stainless Frames
It has had only one issue the whole time and that was light Strikes with a Light Hammer Spring in my B-SA Frame
Re-installed the Stock Spring .... no more issues
So as Boris pointed-out: Watch your Hammer Spring Weight
I shoot (primarily) Federal Bulk (525 / 550) Ammo in ALL my Semi Autos .... always have

Fail to eject / Stovepipes etc, check out this Post and a few after:

The mod really works
Don't understand why CZ hasn't fix their Ejectors after all these years !

Good luck
Hope you get your KADET running smooth
They are SOOOooo fun and deadly accurate

I’ve never done anything to any of my hammer springs nor had to deal with light strikes. I did follow the recommendations about the ejector tab angle modifications and rarely experience issues with any of the ammo’s that I like to buy in bulk. (Take that to mean the bargain stuff!). It wasn’t bad to begin with but went from maybe 1% failure rate (tolerable) to a lot less.  Plus the thing runs fine on any of the 75’s. I prefer to keep it on the Omega just because it is easier to clean up.

I'm gonna be the odd guy out here. I put the Kadet Kit on the frame, get it set in place and put in the slide stop. It works great for what I want.
Best,
Rob

Hi,
So I got it fitted to all three of my CZs; a pre-b, a transitional ,and a stainless with  just a tiny bit of filing as per the instructions. The host slide stops work except for the stainless, which is too short.I'm going to try it out on the transitional so I put the oem springs back in but I sent away for some various weight Wolff hammer springs to try those.I think I've read that it's not recommended to dry fire with the Kadet and I was wondering if they are prone to breaking the firing pins. Also there was a long thread  that took place a few years ago where there was discussion about using an extended firing pin and lighter hammer springs with the Kadet; it didn't come to anything, evidently, but without having to read thru all the pages does anyone know if anyone at the time suggested using a heavier firing pin with lighter springs, something with a greater mass?
Thanks,
           Mark

Same here.  My Kadet kit slid right into my S2.  No fitting required.

The modded Uplula is the cats meow!  Depending upon your comfort level with DIY I believe that Den would be the authority on either supplying one or fixing up your own. FWIW I still use the same loader for everything else, including some single stacks.
