Ergonomically, the one characteristic that has always been a problem for me on the P series guns is the short trigger reach in single action mode. One reason for this is that the travel is so much longer in double action mode that, if they moved the trigger forward very much, the double action reach would be too much.
For those of us with long fingers who shoot single action, there is a relatively simple, albeit crude solution. One can add some epoxy to the front of the trigger and increase the reach a 1/4" or so. Then one can add some JB-Weld or Sugru to the frame just below the beavertail. With these changes, one can increase the reach to the trigger by 3/8" or so without getting too wild. This worked great for me on my P-09 several years ago, and I just made the same changes to my new P-07 this week.
The trigger surface needs to be flat across the trigger with slightly chamfered edges. I made a tape dam or form and filled it with epoxy with the gun nearly vertical, at an angle that would result in a flat trigger surface perpindicular to the bore axis at the sear contact rotation. Here is an after the fact photo showing how the tape can be put on the trigger. (I had already finished this one and trimmed it, but you get the idea.
Here is what the gun looks like, with the hammer cocked but without the slack taken up. This feels perfect at the sear contact point with the trigger "prepped".
Here is the approximate vertical orientation for the gun while the epoxy is setting.
Here is an early morning, low light, not quite sharp photo of the trigger surface, ready for a range session later today or tomorrow.
As you can see from the full pistol photos, I like to ovalize the frame grip and add a little grip tape. This is all for a one-time attempt at a local bullseye match this weekend. I have won these matches with the P-09 and CZ-97B"E", I think shooting one with the 3.8" carry gun will be a hoot.
Now if I can just figure out a way to limit the pretravel...I'd convert to single action only and put the safety back in and remove the decocker. Wait a minute, this is a defensive gun! Nevermind.
