The way the AG regs are written, the only handguns that can be sold but don't comply with the AG regs are those that were lawfully (and proveably) owned in MA before 10/21/98. The AG has issued an exemption to the MA ownership requirement until the EOPS list of approved handguns (independent of the AG regs) and listed in Ch 140 is issued (similar to the CA requirements). The first list is complete and will be issued by the EOPS shortly... once the EOPS list is promulgated, only hanguns that are on the EOPS list AND comply with the AG regs can be sold by a dealer unless the gun was proveably in MA before 10/21/98.
So, in short, when the list comes out any day now (was actually completed in early December but hasn't been officially promulgated) all those used guns you see at Four Seasons and everywhere else are out of our reach. Since CZ hasn't sent any samples (and says they will not do so) to the lab for testing and inclusion on the EOPS list; we have a very short time to buy our toys.
Sorry for the long post but the regs in this bleephole of a state are very complicated. If I didn't make that clear, post your questions and I will try to clarify. Thanks, Jon
