There may be others less common, but this design was one of the first common types that used a DAO trigger and high capacity magazines and extensive use of polymer and a number of years before Glock. When the VP70Z was discontinued the prices were about the same price so maybe they have appreciated in value. Fjested's Blue Book of gun values could provide better information. By and large, the pistol was considered an excellent design with one major fault. Trigger pull weight in pounds, ran as high as the magazine capacity in rounds. It was the trigger that killed the design and yet today there are inexpensive DAOs with triggers as heavy and they are selling. It could, one day have collecter value higher than the asking price, but during the late 70's and early 80's, they were not what you could call, "Rare".
Further investigation would be worthwile!
