Cajunized SP-01 fun!
« on: October 11, 2018, 02:50:04 PM »
While I bought the cajunized SP-01 for fun shooting, I used it (as opposed to my G26 CCW) for a recent weekend-long Fighting Pistol class.  Absolutely a pleasure and ran perfectly.  No regrets with CGW workmanship!  While I have heard of instructors that insist that students drop their weapons to get them to think of them as durable tools, I was resolved not to do this.  Yes, it might work fine, but I don't want to drop any of my precision tools on purpose.  Happy to say I wasn't asked to do this. ;)

Whew that puts a knot in my stomach. My pistols are all tools and I run them hard and dirty to see what they?ll take. But I put love into them and never have intention to drop them on purpose and do everything to prevent myself from dropping them on accident. I?d tell them no if they told me to.

Glad it ran well and you enjoyed the course.

I'm with Earl on this one.  David and Scott worked too hard on mine to mess them up just to make some "instructor" happy.

I remember going to a group social exchange camp at Parris Island years ago.  The instructors there would become a tad upset when anybody would drop their weapon.  I (and others in my working group) endeavored to keep said-same teachers happy while attending and still hold that concept of "no dropping of weapons."  I hold that although a weapon IS a tool and CAN be dropped, it just makes no sense to do so.  I think maybe the instructor is a tool.

BTW- am jealous of Cajun SP-01 ownership, OP!  ;D

Nothing quite like the gentle guidance of a DI to keep you motivated.  Happy to have missed that social exchange by about five years.

Sounds like you had a good time. Though I?d also refuse to drop my pistol. Don?t know what the heck that is supposed to accomplish. The only person I?d drop my weapon for was a police officer. Though I?d have to warn him my CZ Shadow Line Compact Custom doesn?t have a firing pin block ;D
