What ammo USPSA production
« on: October 14, 2018, 11:53:11 PM »
Started shooting my cajunizing pistol and I found that Point of Aim his different with my ammo. Especially from 20 yards.

My VP9 LOVED Winchester white box 124 NATO but they were hot and Def not soft shooting.

I've got a press but haven't started reloading 9mm. Strictly 223 and 308 for 300 yard rifle competitions.

I just bought 1000 rounds from Fenix ammunition. Hasn't left they're facility yet so can't comment.

Does anyone buy their competition ammo?

Can someone provide my with a recommendation?

Thanks,

Moe

I've never shot their 9mm ammo but I can vouch for their 10mm ammo. The 10mm ammo is stout as advertised. Hopefully someone here will chime in about their 9mm ammo.

I haven't used it but you may want to check out Federal American Eagle Syntech Action Pistol.

Thanks Mike.

I was looking at this too.

Was hoping to get some feedback. Be nice to find a box locally.

For competition purposes, it's generally agreed that Atlanta Arms makes the best 9mm ammo. It's what the AMU uses, so that should certainly be good enough for anyone here. Your price is somewhat offset from new ammo because Atlanta Arms products are reloads, done to very precise specifications.

https://atlantaarms.com/

Do a search here in the Ammo & Handloading section and read more about it. Or, you can search for some of the amazing videos by member Joe L.

? If you'd like to start loading your own, then we can certainly get you started there too.

Hope this helps.  ;)

Some USPSA competitors who are not into reloading swear by Federal Eagle 9mm 124gr Supressor ammo but it is more expensive than their other offerings.

I have been shooting the Federal Syntech 150gr ammo
so far really nice, really accurate.

otherwise, 124JHP for ZERO or Montana Gold, 4.2 of VIHT N320, all good.

Great!

Thanks! I'm going to give it a try.

My next question would be, being that it's a reduced load would I require a new recoil spring?

When I bought ammo I always bought American eagle in a red box 124g for competing.
It was consistant and fairly clean for buying it at the LGS.

I mostly reload now and I love my two roll your own rounds of choice.

You will not need a different recoil spring if you shoot 124 Montana Golds over 4.2 N320.

I can confirm this is the full-baller ammo. Can sail a little close to the wind PF wise so you need to chrono in your gun before buying a heap.

A friend of mine uses this in his SP-01 Shadow for IDPA/USPSA and loves it. Very accurate and soft shooting.

I?ve shot the American Eagle 124gr suppressor, 124gr American Eagle Redbox, and Federal Syntech.

At nationals there was a lot of talk about the Syntech using a new primer that was a little harder than the typical federal primers. The suppressor ammo was my favorite of the ammo that I?ve shot. It?s also very clean.

It also needs to be tested for CZ chamber fit before making a huge buy. Not every 9mm ammo made can be shot in the CZ.

Moe -
Depending upon what press you have, you may be very disappointed in your reloading efforts. Obviously, you'll be consuming 4 or 5 times the amount of pistol ammo over what you use for long distance rifle competitions. Possibly even more with practice.

Where 60 rounds an hour output is really good for the rifle, with the same output you'll be there all day trying to supply your pistol.

Not saying it can't be done, just that with some presses it won't be worth your time.
