Talon Grips: Rubber or Granulate?
« on: October 25, 2018, 02:12:49 AM »
I LOVE my P-09 and I have only one minor complaint.  The traction on the grips could be more aggressive IMHO.   So I'm thinking about picking up some Talon Grips.  Even though the P-09 is large, it could possibly be worn concealed one day.  I use the large back strap.  Here's my question:  Rubber or Granulate?

I used to carry a P-07 in a IWB holster and preferred rubber then.  Switched to a RAMI in an AIWB and also switched to granulated. I like granulated especially if handled with wet hands or one hand.  I cut my own grip out of 3M safety grip tape these days and it is on all my pistols. The lone exception is my Shield 2.0 which has pretty aggressive texture already.

Do you find that the granulated abrades against your skin when you carry your RAMI Benq?

Rubber.
I have tried both, granulate is not very carrier friendly.

I base my grip texture on how I plan to use my handgun. For competition, granular is my choice so I can get a firm grip when shooting. For everyday carry or casual range use handguns, I go with the Talon rubber grips. Even though I will shoot my competition pistol for practice, I always keep the granulated grips on for better grip.

This!  The rubber is grippy without being abrasive.  I use the rubber on my P10C and G19.  Just make sure you take your time when installing them and get the material down between the stock texture.  Anything I'm not going to conceal, I'd probably go with the granular for the little bit of extra grip.

Excellent guidance everyone!  Thank you very much.  I'm sold on the rubber grips and will be going with them as there is a chance that I may actually try to conceal and carry this beast at some point.

Ah, an old school P-07 Duty.  Love it.  The grips look great.  Are they pretty black or are they more of a darker gray?

I love the granular but have to wear a tee shirt when IWB.  Never tried rubber but just might.
