Where's the Best Deal on 124g 9mm FMJ Bullets?
« on: October 29, 2018, 04:05:34 PM »
I picked up 2000 Armscor 124gr FMJ bullets on sale for $158.50 delivered ($129 plus shipping) at Widener's a couple months back. That's 7.9 cents each.

Their Armscor 115gr FMJ are on sale at $129 currently. Plus shipping.

Have spent a lot at Evergladesammo.com too. They have 5% off sales on occasion.

What's your favorite supplier for 124gr FMJ bullets? (I'm just not that fond of lead or coated bullets.)

Some of the "pulled" bullets from Rocky Mntn Reloading (RMR) get fairly cheap. All RMR prices include FREE shipping.

First, for some the word deal favors inexpensive.  Personally, my daddy taught me,  "Don't spend your money freely, but spend what you need to get what you want."  Not an exact quote, but the principle is the same, and that quote works best here.  So for me, a deal is getting something of the quality that I want, at a good price, where quality is the first factor, and price is the second.

  • Precision Delta makes outstanding jacketed bullets, where 124gr can be had for $89/1000 with free shipping, and sizing options of .355 or .356 (for RN only).
  • RMR has similar pricing.  I can't speak from personal experience, but I have no reason to think they aren't fine bullets.  .355 sizing only for 9mm.
  • Montana Gold can be had at 9 cents per bullet when you buy 3,000+ cases, but I don't think that includes shipping.  It might.  Not sure.  Regardless, I used to be a Montana Gold fan, but after trying Precision Delta, I don't think I'll ever buy MG again.  No reason to pay even a fraction of a penny more for those.
  • ZERO is a penny to a penny and half more per bullet, certainly as good as PD, possibly a hair better, and they also have .355 or .356 sizing for JHP (JHP being my preference).
  • Hornady HAP can be had for 10 cents a bullet for 115gr, and 12 cents per bullet for 125gr.  These are .356 (regardless of what the specs say), and they are top notch.

If I wanted jacketed 124/125gr bullets for my pistols that shoot jacketed best with .355, I'd shoot 124gr Precision Delta JHP, all day, every day.

If I wanted jacketed 124/125gr bullets for my pistols that shoot jacketed best with .356, I'd shoot 124gr Precision Delta FMJ-RN for 38 Super, all day, every day.  OR (and this is my current plan) I'd buy a couple thousand .356 121gr JHP from ZERO, and see how my pistol liked those.

Advanced search should turn up the coupon for PD - 15% off.

[Mods: Which is simply "PD15" and only works above $200]

The code PD15 expired May 31, 2018 according to the website.   :-[
