What CZ
« on: November 08, 2018, 01:04:28 PM »
Im a 1911 user .I use it for IDPA and USPSA.Wanting to get a CZ.I shot a friends Shadow 2 recently and fell in love with it.Although the price is a bit steep. Can one of you veteran CZ users recommend some other CZ models that are a bit more reasonable in price to be able to compete in these contests.Disregard using it as CCW gun.Oh by the way I havent ruled out the Shadow 2.But help me out,I know nothing about CZ.

The SP-01 Shadow was the previous model and is still available here for $873

Or maybe the standard SP01 at 6ish if you aren't a trigger snob.  Can use rel cheap 3 spring kit from CGW to lighten up the pull.  You may still have some hammer camming, though.

The basic SP-01 would be cheaper but since the OP plans to use it for competition the SP-01 Shadow would be better out of the box.  It maybe more expensive but you have to factor in what you get for that extra $200+.  It has an 85c slide without the firing pin block, 85c trigger which is less curved , lighter hammer and recoil spring, larger safety lever, upgraded competition sight, extended mag release button and 3 mags instead of just 2.

IMHO, the SP-01 Shadow is a better deal than buying the SP-01 then upgrading it.

The CZ 75B SA is an option and it happen to be the cheapest competition firearms from CZ at $552

As one who has upgraded an SP01 Tac to somewhere near Shadow standards, I agree. It's not simply installing a handful of $3 springs. Milling the slide alone was $300 !

Such a great point that doesn?t get mentioned enough, because the Shadow sight cut and resultant sight options are so much better

You mentioned IDPA and USPSA. Please keep in mind that the Shadow 2 is too heavy for IDPA. I shoot IDPA using the SP-01 Shadow.

I've been shooting a stock CZ75B-SA for about 15 years now and I'm very happy with it.  The OEM sights are not optimal.  I've thought about changing them to something with fiber optics, because of my age and presbyopia.  However, the pistol itself is still dead on when bench-rested.  This was some time ago, but I feel like the 75SA and the 97B were two of the best purchases I've ever made.
