Grip options for 97 BD?
« on: November 11, 2018, 12:41:01 PM »
Just got a 97 and the PO was nice enough to include both the stock black thin aluminum grips as well as a set of LOK bogies.  They're both too thin for my hands, I need some palm swell, although I could maybe live with the LOKs, but Zombie Green just doesn't go with my eyes  ::).  A little too aggressive on the texture, too.  I may have a set of the factory rubber grips coming, but was looking around for other alternatives and wasn't finding much that weren't variations on the thin grip theme.  Am I just missing it, or is the 97 that unpopular/unknown?  Thanks.

LOK makes palm swells for the 97. If he only lists the palm swells in the Bogie texture, send him an email, he great about special orders. However, I don't think you'll find the Bogies to be all that aggressive if they fit your hand.

They really don't fit me that well, and although the traction they offer feels good with a static gun, it reminds me of my XDs.  That was fine, until I actually started shooting it  :o.  I just prefer a rubber grip, now that I think about it, ALL my guns have rubber grips, even my P07 wears Talon rubber grips.  Appreciate the info, though, and will keep it in mind for the future.  Later.

So you've tried the palm swells bogies for the 97? I thought you had the thin bogies. The OEM rubber and aluminum grips are both too thin for me, I have a set of palm swell bogies on order as I love them on my 75's. Another option, though expensive are Nills wood grips. I currently have them on my 97 and they're amazing. More suited to bullseye type shooting though, not good if you carry the gun at all. That's pretty much it for options with some palm swell.

Nope, I haven't tried the palm swell bogies yet, but am keeping them in mind if the factory rubber grips don't do the job.  I don't need much, oddly enough, the thin grips feel good in my left hand, good contact, but being right handed, my right hand is enough bigger/meatier that they don't work.  Those Nills grips are drop dead sexy, but the price is about enough to make you drop dead 💀.  Maybe if I was a competitive bullseye shooter or I stumbled across a used pair cheap, but otherwise, not gonna happen.  Later, and thanks again.
