Grip inserts for cz 83/82 wood grips
« on: November 19, 2018, 10:48:14 PM »
I?m contemplating a set of walnut grips from CZ USA for my 83. The description indicates that the use of a screw insert is recommended to avoid damaging the grips and even specifies a part number (but not included with the grips). I searched the site and finally contacted CZ; they couldn?t find any further reference, either.
Their advice was to forget about it and be sure to not overtighten the grip screws, maybe add a tiny o-ring. Well enough but there were comments/product reviews referring to the use of the referenced inserts.
So, might anyone here have any ideas/opinions on the necessity of these or where to find them?  I?m fine using them if they can actually be sourced. Thanks!

Do you currently have a set of the original black plastic grips on it? Because if so, the black plastic grips come installed with the exact insert you need for the wood grips, so you can just harvest the insert from your current grips if you have no use for them otherwise. The inserts are not too hard to remove - they are just lightly pressed in and should come out without otherwise damaging the original grips.

I'll have to check.  The current grips are there, just wanted to dress it up a bit a give it better texture.  Thanks for the tip!

I actually bought 1-2 pairs a few years ago from CZ-USA...if I correctly recall as I also have parts from the CZUB store. I didn?t use them as the wooden grips that I have are mostly from Marschal and come with metal washers. As afultz075 mentioned, they are on the original plastic grips.

Yup, there they are. They slip right out easily enough. I?ll probably make some for some other wood grips to protect them as well.  I?d not seen them before and had assumed they?d have a flared or flanged end but they?re just a straight ferrule. Thanks for the responses, guys.

I used small o-rings, and they are A-OK just fine.  See here:
