Am I looking for the unobtainable? (grips)

Hey guys...bit of a possibly unanswerable question here.

I'll be in possession of a new(ish) production Shadow Black hopefully soon, and preferably like to put some wooden grips on it, partly to subvert the whole 'gamer' Production ethic heh and also I *ahem* like my wood lol Sticking point is, under IPSC rules any aftermarket grips must conform to the OFM grip profile...and there aren't many which do. Yes the Tac Sports walnut grips look OEM-worthy, but unlikely to fit the Shadow for obvious reasons.

Specifically this rule:

20.3 Aftermarket grips which match the profile of the OFM standard for the [IPSC] approved handgun and/or the application of tape or grips (see Appendix F4) is permitted, however, rubber sleeves are prohibited.



On top of that, due to our strict import laws around wood products I'd guess Border Force?? lol would probably grab them anyway...so I'm left with finding factory profiles in a different material.

So I've washed up on LOK palm swell grips...which appear to have the same grip profile. Has anyone had experience with them and if so, so did they stack up feel-wise with the factory rubber?

Full checkered seems to be the least overtly-aggressive...and being G10 should be well grippy enough. No more applying skate griptape (as I've done on my M&P for the last 8 years) sounds uh, fairly attractive lol

LOK palm swell Bogies are some of the most popular grips available out of the many options for CZ75 variants. The profile is similar to the factory rubber CZ grips. The only gripe i have heard is that they can be a bit sharp in some places but that is easily remedied with some sand paper.

I have a set on my SP-01 Tac. I like them. They are one of the few grip options around with a palm swell.

You can even email them and they will do custom orders for an increased price.

Good to know, especially when you take into account our exchange rate, which is crap lol...any outlay is going to be considerable so forewarned is forearmed, so to speak 

Yeah, as I thought so too, re the palm swell availability. You guys seem to have a lot more leeway in USPSA in many areas, although (kinda) sadly we are changing IPSC rules too...purely because of the preponderance of OEM-tricked out Shadows and Tanfogs. Yes there are guys who compete against these using M&Ps (and one guy in particular with a Glock 17 who has the fastest draw I've ever seen lol) but the "gamer" quotient has really taken over Production Division...a long way from Col Jeff Cooper's original ethos, that's for sure. People take themselves way too seriously...fortunately I'm in a low grade enough not to really care  lol

I think as long as they have the same palm swell-look, nobody should ping me on the line heh
