How do these grips look on my CZ 75?
« on: January 20, 2019, 01:15:41 PM »
I received these in th mail the other day, and I'm not sure if I want to keep them.  The fitment is great, and they fill my large hands well.  I thought they were going to be a bit darker than what I received, so that's why I'm looking for opinions, thanks.  Here's the pic again from a different hosting site.

Well I see it in both posts, and there's no other way to post a pic.  A moderator needs to answer this dilemma.

The grip color does not complement the gun in my opinion. To me the look is just meh.

Ya, lighter than I?m used to, and I don?t really care for the look on mine. But I do love how they fit though.  But I did eventually put grip tape on front & back of the grip for mine.

I'm with you on the desire for a darker stain.  I do love wood, leather, and steel more than aluminum, kydex, and polymer although I own variations with all.  Probably my age.  Just love the natural things.  Have you thought to see if they would take some darker stain to go where you hoped that they would be when you opened the package?

Cocobolo can go way orange. I think its a term that refers to a group of potential trees but I am no expert. I have what was described as cocobolo on two revolvers and they swing to orange as well.

I prefer darker but I think they look more than fine on your 75. If there is a sealant on the wood you may not be able to stain them without removing it or it could go blotchy. You can try soaking them over night in Mineral oil available at any drug store. I have had some knife handles really come to life when I did that.

Otherwise .. just use the gun a bunch and eventually it will darken just from use. Hardwood scales are tough to come by for the CZ's so if you really like wood I would keep them. I think your pic look very nice.
