Depends on your shooting distant.   Most folks punch paper at 50 and I am one of them, so I just zero at 50 and call it done.

I don?t shoot 22LR beyond 50 anyway,  and I find 50 yds zero is good nuff to ping 20ga shells at 25yds.

We always sighted them in at 25 yds.  But then, we used them for squirrel hunting or the occasional groundhog.  Uh, squirrel hunting as in head shots.  Often we were closer, but I don't really recall trying to shoot farther out in the woods.

We would, at times, shoot farther, but at rocks, pepsi cans, etc., etc.  For fun.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I zero my .22 rifles at 50yds.

One other element to consider if you were thinking of going further is the trajectory of .22LR ...if you zero at 100yds you'll be 2.75" high at 50yds and 2.4" at 75yds (using 40gr loads) - you might consider a 75yd zero.

With a 75yd zero, the amount of error is less than a 100yd zero (the bullet doesn't drop 1.5 inches below the line of sight until it reaches something like 85-90 yards). As a general rule, beyond the 90 yard mark the bullet's trajectory drops so steeply that it would be difficult to maintain accuracy (may not be exact for your rifle and ammunition at your altitude).

As was mentioned, it depends on the load you are using, and your intended use.

If I am using super sonic, high performance ammo for gophers, I use a 75 yd zero, as it offers more 'point blank' aiming.

If I am using my sub sonic ammo for around the house use, I use a 50 yd zero.

50 yards.
Keep that the mark. Then learn to use hold over or hold under (iron sights).
With scopes then just adjust for distance when paper dot shooting or learn to use hold over/under for hunting.

Hiya ,my indoor range only has 50ft pistol side and 75ft rifle side. With that constraint I assume 25yds to be the logical zero point then.Cheers

If it were me Adrian, that's what I would do and make any adjustments when you have an opportunity. Depending on your ammo, it may surprise you to find you're still on "zero" at 30 or even 35 yards with that setup. Good luck and Cheers to you Sir.

I have zeros for 25 and 50. I almost always use the same ammo and have had good results with a fixed 4x scope on my 452 American at CMP Sporter matches (3 position, 25-50yrds).

If you are new to target shooting, I would suggest starting at 25 and then moving out to 50 once you have mastered the distance. Then make a decision as to which you prefer.

I always use a a 50 yard zero personally.
