Supreme Court Will Review New York City Gun Law
« on: January 22, 2019, 09:37:21 PM »
(subject)

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/22/us/politics/supreme-court-guns-nyc-license.html

I keep my fingers crossed with hopes that SCOTUS will protect gun rights in this case and other cases will follow.

I hope they get it right. So many laws like this across the country need to be reviewed. Shall not be infringed means just that.

This has the potential, especially with Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, to be VERY interesting...what would happen if Ginsburg was too ill to vote?

For those of us who prefer not to read the NYT: https://www.scotusblog.com/2019/01/justices-to-review-new-york-gun-rights-case/

Thank you.  I was going to read the Times article but it habitially went straight to wiping my rear end.

The way I see it, one less vote against us.

Can't wait for the Supreme Court to stick up Coumo's arse. My GF's family vacations at Lake George and I refuse to go because I can't get a non-resident carry permit. Also the Americade MC event is held at Lake George and I can't attend. I hate NY/NYC, Coumo, Comrade DeBlasi and the rest of the filthy Dems.  :( >:(

I fear that this will not resolve things any more than Heller did.  Heller was good, except that they talked about an individual's right to own guns SUBJECT TO REASONABLE RESTRICTIONS, without any clarification on what a reasonable restriction was.  So this solved nothing, because Chicago immediately passed all sorts of restrictive laws, pronouncing that they were 'reasonable', and an entire second round had to be fought to get them overturned.

So I fear that they will do something like rule only on the NYC law, so it does not solve any of the broader issues.

They need SCOTUS to decide whether Constitutional Rights apply evenly across all of the United States or not.  I don?t understand how home owners associations, townships, bergs, cities, counties, and states have been allowed to suspend certain Constitutionally protected rights without this coming to a head already.

Constitutionally protected Rights should not be allowed to be restricted, modified, infringed, or outright denied simply based upon geography.  They should apply evenly - nationwide.

HIya and thx for the thread. I'd like to know how the female gun owners think and feel on the subject. The orange one's Access Hollywood tape, Anita Hill and Chris Ford might indicate where women rights stand in the eyes of some of the supreme ones. Enjoy the rights we still do have as the deciders of future rights are far above any paygrades we have represented here. Be well.
