Slide color suggestions for CZ85 Combat.
« on: January 25, 2019, 06:26:19 PM »
Hey all

I will be sending my 2014 CZ85 Combat slide out for some work that i can not complete my self. While it is out i am considering having the slide refinished but i have not been able to settle on a color if any. The frame will maintain its factory black polycoat. The sights will be black. I recognize that the 85 Combat is no longer produced and some folks like to keep them factory stock but i decided to go the route of non factory modifications on this one long ago.

What color slide do you think goes well with a factory black frame? All suggestions are welcomed.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

You know, I had my Pre B CZ85 slide done (by Primary Machine) in Socom Blue.

It looks black in some light and dark blue in different light.  The frame is Aluminum cerakote.  A little to "bright" for my taste, now that it's on there but it'll do.

Lookin' black

Lookin' blue.

I sort of wish I'd gotten the whole thing done in the blue cerakote.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I am in the middle of the same debate but for the frame color. The lip on the back of the frame dug into the webbing on my thumb so i took it off. Now the sweep matches a sp01. The purple grips and lettering in the slide make it a harder choice.

Good luck on picking. I thought you had a few nice looking czs already

OD or FDE are good looking colors (have both - OD Green on the P09 and FDE on the P07).

I'd look through the forum here at older threads/pictures.  I've seen some really pretty combinations on some of the guns people have posted pictures of.

All a matter of personal choice.
I looked at hundreds of combos googling online images of CZ pistols. The lighting does make a difference especially on darker colors. But I didn't want something trendy or flashy. So, I've had Primary do my black frames with Titanium Cerakote. I like it but some might say boring. I might do the next one Tungsten Cerakote. A rich deep color. JMO

Titanium Cerakote looks similar to the nickel finish on the classic CZ 83's

One other consideration....Black Nitride is probably among the most durable finishes; resisting holster wear and maintaining excellent lubricity. There are different proprietary names (IE SIG's Nitron) for nitrided finishes that actually penetrate the metal, unlike Cerakote which is essentially an extremely durable paint.
