Not much savings between the two options, but I assume one is much more work.

Which route would you go? Pros and cons 75 SP01 Shadow Decision
« on: January 27, 2019, 10:15:54 PM »
I was leaning heavily towards base SP01 Shadow and adding the CGW Shadow kit with reach reduction, and doing the work myself.  Though I am a noob to CZ so that would have to be after learning the gun for some period of time.  This is only $51 less than other option, but I will learn the gun and get a lot of experience out of it I think.

Now I am leaning towards starting with the SP01 Shadow Custom, already nice and smooth, and then just adding CGW Shadow reach reduction kit.  I would do that work myself later on.  This option is $51 more but I get to start with a much nicer gun I think.

This will be a comp gun, so I will no doubt add second gun pretty quickly too.  Maybe I could done one each way.  What do you think?

Thanks!

Neither is a bad choice. I will say that I do prefer CGW?s hammer though.

Thanks.  Can you tell me what difference it makes for you?  Is it a different feel on pulling the trigger, or change trigger pull weight?

Just have the shadow custom built with the CZC short DA kit when you order. Pretty easy

I would call both vendors and decide from there. Most of us here have done business with and like both. Regarding hammers, I prefer the feel of the Cajun part as well, but it's too close to notice under the timer at a match.

Is there any reasons why you are going for the SP-01 Shadow instead of the Shadow 2 if it will be strictly for competition?

Thanks Stuart.  I sent you a PM with a question.

PnoyGeek.  The Shadow 2 is too heavy for IDPA, so I am not considering it.

IMO the CGW hammer just has a nicer break. Just a matter of opinion. Both are fine hammers.

I would go with the first option just because all the customization will be done by CGW.  Just my preference when having custom jobs done.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Just for clarity, in both options I would do the work myself.  Either installing the full CGW Shadow kit with reach reduction (if I get the base sp01 Shadow), or the CGW Shadow reach reduction kit (if I start with the sp01 Shadow custom).
