I'm told this is a CZ 85 Combat
« on: March 06, 2019, 06:38:20 PM »
There is no mention of Combat on the gun but The paperwork says otherwise.   It's a bit late anyway, I just bought it and shot it for the first time today. Now I know why people like them  :)  The sights are not what I expected but they work well enough.
It set me back $500 Canadian with three magazines, which works out at $372 US I think I did ok.

Superb find! The three versions (Standard, Combat and Lux) of the early Model 85s did not have markings on the pistol that distinguished the three models then offered. The square trigger guard was found only on the Combat such as yours until 1989 when the round guard was discontinued across all variants. Do all three magazines have the last three of the SN etched on them? Curious as to see what other paper work (from factory?) indicates it?s a Combat.

Only 2 magazines are serialised to the gun, I guess the odd one was purchased separately.

Here's the only paperwork that mentions combat.

Thanks... To be honest I'm a lousy shot with a pistol, but I'm a much better shot with the CZ than any other. It feels nicer in the hand than my Beretta and the trigger is a Lot nicer

Thanks for the paperwork. That?s just cool as you don?t see it often. There?s a photo in a book that has SN. 000005 CZ 85 Combat from 1986. The right-side only view of that early pistol looks exactly like yours. The two SN etched magazines is similar to what?s found with the early 80s CZ 75 pre-Bs.

Yes, can see the photo links as well as the one on your original post that shows directly under your text.

Yes the pistol from 1986 is identical. It looks as if the CZ's were not as popular back then, least they did not make many.

If you think it's easier to shoot because of the trigger you should try a cz with a custom trigger. That one is nice enough i would leave it alone but shooting a cajunized 85 with a trigger under 2lb something magical happens. When it doesn't require much thought, travel or muscle to pull your groups will get so much better.

Nice piece !

The large round thing is one of the sight adjustment screws, there is another one on the other side. It's well designed sight, even though it does look unusual.

It's said those sights are fragile. They're definitely unobtanium.

Nice pistol!
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.
