Vz 58 Receiver
« on: March 07, 2019, 02:53:32 PM »
What is the story on Ohio Rapid Fire VZ 58 receivers. It is an early production receiver and was never installed.. what should I watch for?  Are they good to go or were they JUNK?

Thanks

You can have it tested for hardness, etc.  But you really don't know until during assembly (if out of spec errors on the dimension front) or after putting a half to full case load of ammo through the gun (if metal quality errors).

For AWO/ORF receivers, they made some of the Century Golani receivers as well.  TennGalil over on the Uzitalk forums, and others, have posted extensively on checks that should be made to ensure integrity of that component and best place I've seen it discussed.

TennGalil/Hillbilly Firearms has built VZ58s for customers too, but is known to have a significant backlog of work -- but might be willing to inspect for you.  Am sure there are other competent VZ-58 builders too who know how to inspect for receiver quality, but don't have that list offhand.
