9mm SP01 Shadow Mags, Funny Incident and Questions
« on: March 11, 2019, 12:15:46 AM »
Hey everyone,

So I got my first cz a couple of weeks ago.  A 75 SP01 Shadow custom 91031.  I don't have a way to upload a pic but right now it just looks like this https://oakhillguns.com/pistol/cz-usa/cz-75-sp01-shadow-custom-9mm-duo-tone.html

Decided to shoot my new gun in first match today and had a great time.  What a great gun, but a little excitement on stage 3.  Just as I finished fully seating my fresh mag on reload, the basepad fell off and all contents of mag fell out  :)

I did notice over the last couple weeks just handling the gun and mags (only shot it 3 times so far) that there seems to be more play between basepad and mag body than I am used to with my m&p mags.  The basepad just doesn't seem super snug and give confidence like I have been used to.  What do you guys think?  Maybe +10% springs will help push down on baseplate tab into basepad hole and make it more "solid"?

Finally, since it came with only 3 mags I will need to add more.  I was looking at all the "sp01" mags on Greg Cote website and it ranges from oem at like $42, to something in the middle, to some much cheaper ACT mags (range of prices and even round count and basepads it seems).  Can you guys point me in the direction of quality (but if less expensive that is great too) mags that "should theoretically" work well in my gun?

Thank you!

On Greg's site you can also buy the Mecgar mags. A bit cheaper and actually run nicer than the OEM mags.

anonymouscuban,

Thanks.  Here are some links to some of the Mec-Gar mags on Greg's site.  Should all of these work fine?  I noticed that they don't all have the same basepads and I have also heard that some mags can be over-inserted into the cz.

Here is a 10 rounder: http://gregcotellc.com/cart/cz-factory-mecgar-actmag-c-173/cz-75b-85b-sp01-shadow-2-10-rd-9mm-mgcz7510b-p-1496.html

Will all of these work well in a 75 sp01 shadow?

Those will all work and Greg Cote is a great place to do business with. I've purchased from them many times. Fyi, you'll like the coating on the 17 round magazine...very nice magazine.

I would recommend Mec-Gar mags.....used them in many matches from gravel to concrete to dirt, and they've held up fine.
