Broken Firing Pin Right from the start

Brought my CZ P-10C to the range for the first time only to find out that the gun had a broken striker brand new in box. I had only dry fired the pistol before. How extremely disappointed I was to find out that not only did it never was able to strike the primer, but to realize I was basically carrying a paperweight for a few weeks.

I've contacted warranty and am awaiting response but bleep that was a bit of a confidence killer. Here's a picture of the gun and broken firing pin https://imgur.com/a/RPhOUid

I would be VERY disappointed also.
I have read about others breaking their firing pins after shooting for a while. I bought a

striker and kept the original as a spare. So far so good. Excellent quality tool steel striker.
If you?ll put up with the aggravation of waiting for the firing pin, you may be rewarded with what for me is my favorite pistol.

A pistol must be vetted for reliability prior to even consideration for personal carry.

What you did could have cost you your life.

Firing Pin/Striker

I despise MIM components.

I?d recommend purchasing and installing Cajun Gun Works? Striker.

That should not have ever happened but now you know.

Yeah it was quite the harsh lesson even if nothing did happen.

I had such high expectations for a pistol that didn't even work from round 0 which I really didn't expect from a reputable Firearms manufacturer.

I'm pretty sure Glock uses a MIM firing pin too, and although it has only seen around 700 rounds, at least it wasn't broken from the start.

Sorry if it feels like I'm venting, it was a terrible time to find out nothing happened no matter how many times I pulled that trigger.

This happens, CZ customer service will take care of it. I wouldn't get to worried about MIM parts.Those who don't like them just refuse to face the fact that they can be of great quality and MIM is just another form of metal manufacturing just like investment casting or forging. Your car engine and drive train is full of MIM, aircraft are full of MIM. There are more MIM used in firearms small parts than anything else today. I've had tool steel firing pins puke out in 1911's and the edges of sears chip off as well so machined tool steel parts fail just like anything. Lets be honest. Many parts in firearms today are stamped and formed like slide release levers,decockers and so on and really look how many guns have frames made of recycled 2 liter bottles with some black dye added.
All that said.   NO ONE should ever bet their life on ANY gun they have never personally used in live fire practice EVER.

I fire a couple hundred rounds through one before carrying it.

I remember a thread on another forum a few months back about broken Glock strikers.  Of course it became a MIM thread and then someone was sharing info on where to get tool streel strikers for Glocks.

Even "perfection" isn't 100% perfect.

My one and only Browning pistol, a BDM, broke the firing pin.  I bought two, one to install and one for a spare.

A new gun I intend to carry will sit in the safe until I?ve fired it with carry ammo.

Yeah, I guess I put too much faith into an untested firearm and should've vetted it throughly.

Still I never expected to not even work out of the box, did it break after the fifth round of test firing? Or did my dry fire?

Just curious as to what broke the pin.

Dry firing can indeed break a firing pin with some designs of firing pin and frame, more than likely there was a fault with the pin and it just broke.

My P-07 was stripped to the bone before i even fired it, and i found a VERY large metal shaving in the firing pin channel that probably would have prevented the pin from igniting the primer.

I knew about this issue when I bought mine.

So I replaced it and kept the OEM one for a spare

Sorry to hear this for sure. it seems to be a known issue with the P10C. Like others have said, always prove a weapon before carry. I put a minimum of 500 rounds plus the round I plan to carry through a handgun first. I am currently in this testing with a CZ P07.

I just called CZ yesterday and they shipped me a new firing pin no questions asked.

Glad they took care of me without any hassle, thumbs up to CZ-USA.

After I replace the firing pin, I'll be testing with my HST's and training ammo; until then its back to the G19.

I very much prefer the ergonomics and trigger of the P-10C than my Glock, so I'm looking forward to when it proves itself reliable to me.

You?ll love it. I?ve made the switch to the P10C as a competition pistol as well as carry.

Carrying a gun you've never live fired is absolutely, positively insane.

     Hiya and thx for the thread and sorry bout the scare ya got and the disappointment that followed. I'd recently watched a competitive shooter with forty years experience have the same failure,much to his dismay, and the score he received for that set. It was a revolver. Not ta make light but good chance your test target may have zero holes in it, unless we are to believe it broke after the test shots. That could well be a collectors items cz would make you an offer on,a big offer. . Cheers Be well.
