Magpul handguard?
« on: March 20, 2019, 07:27:02 PM »
I know that a few years ago Czechpoint adapted some Magpul MOE AK handguards to the Vz.58 and they looked amazing (seen here). They also claimed that it helped significantly with handguard heating which is a big bugbear of mine when I owned a Vz.58. I still see the longer handguard version listed (but OOS) on the Czechpoint website, but the short ones that I want are gone.

My question is, do anybody here own one, are they actually good for heat mitigation as advertised, and how could I get one today?

I think there were only available on newly purchased rifles.

A standard MOE handguard can be modified to fit the Vz.58. You just need to carefully modify the rear mounting lug to fit in the skinnier Vz receiver and make a bracket for the front.

On a side note, I wonder how many people would have to speak up and badger Magpul before they’d make a dedicated Vz.58 MOE set. Heck, even just the lower handguard and pistol grip would be fantastic upgrades.
