1st - for you folks that have the .40 S&W P09's, CZ USA appears to have the 15 round magazines on sale for $25 each. Heck of a sale, in my opinion. I just bought some on sale at another outlet for about $8 more each.
http://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/11650_Mag-Cz-P09-40-Sandw-15rd2nd - those new P09 .40 S&W magazines I bought. One is different. Base plate is different (thinner) and the bottom round count hole is stamped "16", not "15". I haven't check to see how many it really holds.
When I looked at the packaging two of the three are labeled "16 round magazines" on the back in the description, but only the one shows "16" stamped on the magazine. The part numbers are the same for all three (on the package label.)
I'm getting ready to wax all three of the new ones and a couple of the old ones in case the P09 .40 becomes more of a carry gun for me (nope, ain't made it to the range to have that promised shoot out between the P09 .40 and the XD 5" Tactical .45, need to do it, just haven't gotten around to it, but the three new magazines were the best price I'd seen so far - till I visited the CZ USA site a few minutes ago to see if they sold 16 round P09 .40 S&W magazines - and no, they are not listed.)
Picture of the magazines with the 16 round in the middle and the 15 round magazines on either side.
Picture of two of the package labels. The part number is the same for the 15 round magazines. Remember, only one of the magazines is stamped 16 at the bottom hole. One of the 15 round magazines was in a package that stated it was a 16 round magazine.
Edited to add - the magazine marked "16" on the bottom hole will easily take 16 rounds of .40 S&W. The two labeled 15 only take 15 (no surprise there.
Now, to take them apart for waxing and see what is different inside.
Is this old news? Or did I run across something seldom seen?
Edited to add more: The 16 round magazine has a shorter (less coils) spring than the 15 round magazines. It has 15 and the older 15 round magazines have 17 coils. Visibly different side by side (phone was on charge, I'll have to get more pictures/later.)
