MICRO Evo3 S1 SBR
« on: March 24, 2019, 09:22:49 PM »
What a blast to shoot. I've heard someone tell me its the poor mans Mp5 but after shooting both (I love me some Mp5 and all HK goodies) the Scorpion in Micro configuration is a excellent return on its value IMO and very similar to a MP5. Of course their is a difference in quality.

It also seems like there is nice support out there for this firearm and a lot of good products to make it your own and improve its OEM standards.

Im Waiting on a SiCo Omega 9k suppressor and for Surefire to release the XVL2 weapons light to be complete. Here it is with a few additions I think are worth their salt and really make this firearm even better to shoot.

HB Industries Micro Conversion 3 lug
HB industries Short Ambi- Saftey
Shooters Element Flat Trigger Shoe
Black Collar Arms Scorpitrol 2 stage trigger pack
Pakse Pathfinder Grip
Dan Haga Designs ACR adapter
Bushmaster ACR folding stock
A3 Tactical HK style VFG
Bobro QD mount
Aimpoint T2

Remember.... ACR everything.

Congrats! It looks AWESOME, thanks for sharing. I am curious as to the reasoning behind your choice of the Omega 9k suppressor. I am in the process of researching suppressors myself and would like to know your thought process on that decision.

Thanks buddy! I was able to bring my Evo down to a a local class 3 dealer and try out a few different suppressors on the scorpion. The Omega 9k is one of the best built cans with fully welded baffles and very compact/lightweight for its sound reduction. I ordered it with tri lug mount and 1/2x28 booster for using on my 9mm handguns.  I do not want a long suppressor hanging out the front so a shorter compact suppressor keeps it PDW short. It will also keep any shadowing outcast from WML to a minimum.  With HBI Industries 3 lug conversion barrel (not sure how the S2 model barrel works but the faux suppressor shroud is removable) the suppressor will slightly recess into the handguard when installed.  It's badass.   I was able to test one out the following week and the rest is history.  I'd highly suggest this can on a compact setup.

Hiya SilentRecon and thanks for the thread. Needed cash so did pick the Evo leave the safe, but like the associated platforms including the micros. I thought I watched Zach at the last SHOT show talk and review several cz suppressors. And it sounded like after cz didn't find a proper one to put its logo on they went and found a company to develop several to support cz, and he had a cut down of one installed in a micros, the cz S2 Ti Reflex. I googled cz-usa suppressors.
So by the looks, co witness was not a deal breaker when choosing optic, which optics didn't pass your test?  With the speed that ATF did your paperwork, mine took months, are you current or ex CIA,FBI,NSA,DEA,SEAL,Airborne ?
Folks saying you rig is anything poor related are working with alternative facts. My Evo benefited from the czc trigger group work, night and day improvement from OOB, hows yours?
Hope to see your range report soon ,be well.

Thanks so much for feedback, really appreciate your thought process. That can gets great reviews and alot of people like it. I gotta find myself a place like that in South Florida to see them in person.

Adrian brought up that CZ worked with a company to develop a can for the micro and I was interested in that as well. My trepidation with that is that it's not a tried and true suppressor like the Omega is.

Yes CZ did come up with their own can. I honestly do not know much about it besides what I'm reading and have never handled one. If you decided on that can, I'd go with the Ti version over SS for sure just in weight savings alone. Suppressor balance is important to me so I'm sure that was taken into consideration when they designed it.

However, when it comes to suppressors, I like hard data and with a proven track record. The new stuff out now is all semi comparable and great IMO so a companies reputation and warrantty on a can comes next. I own quite a few in different caliber mostly rifle so this will be my first 9mm supressor.

I have different spacers for the Bobro mount and cowitness is too low with the ACR stock. If using the OEM stock, it's better because of the drop in the stock OEM cheek weld.

No Law Enforcment. I E-Filed Form 1 and I was taken back myself on the quick approval. Just make sure it's perfect or you'll be denied and have to start over- It's only caviate (you COULD wait 5 months and one mistake is not correctable when you Efile resulting in starting over) They will reimburse your $200 stamp but takes time and you will have to repay another $200 stamp along with fresh Efile. If you send in hard copy it's still 5-6 months + but you're able to fix a issue. The Omega 9k was through a Silencer Shop Kiosk at a local Dealer. Easiest method by far! I've always previously sent in my paperwork. I would of used the kiosk for form 1 but they are currently unavailable waiting on BATF approval for Concierge servicing on form 1s. Some kind of new Jargon has to be processed and approved for them to submit a form 1 on behalf of someone else.

Hopefully you will get back into another Scorpion soon my man!

There are a slew of excellent class 3 dealers in S. FL! Depending where your at in the Tri- county I can let you know where to look. Compact is Good but the ultra short cans can be lackluster with dB reduction. Bigger is usually better but I'm not sure there is a better choice for the ratio. Cost/size/weight/dB reduction/materials/warranty. That formula is all over the map with some but I think the Omega 9k hits the sweet spot IMO. I have ZERO affiliation with anyone in the firearms industry or trying to push a product- just helping if I can.  My quick turnaround on the SBR has me feigning for the can but Form 4s are still 8-9months I was told because of the Govnt shutdown backlogs.

SilentRecon, can you give any feedback/thoughts on the Scorpitrol Trigger?  Did you do the HBI springs prior?  Right now, I have the HBI spring kit in and it's ok in general... but if I could get it to be more "AR" like (crisp, clean, shorter pull, etc.) that would be awesome.  Can you provide any insight on the Scorpitrol?

The Scorpitrol trigger is a clean 2 stage break with a 4.5 lb break at the wall. Id say Its very comparable with higher end triggers on the market . It's really hard to compare it to the OEM trigger with a spring kit because it's not the same. The Skorptrol trigger pack is not a formula 1 car but it's a track car if the OEM was a mini van.  Solid upgrade and butter smooth. Literally takes only a few min to install the trigger pack. ANYONE can put this in..  This is what this gun needs and surprised  giessele didnt produce one or others besides CZ. Missed opportunity there, maybe.. I will post up a video clip on the pull/reset. Maybe get a video up next week at range. Would I suggest purchasing? 100%
Form 4s are still 8-9months I was told because of the Govnt shutdown backlogs.
Silent Recon

It's not entirely because of the shutdown.  The process is technically they are at least 2 transfers.  1 from the manufacturer or another SOT dealer to your dealer.  That is one transfer that has to be approved.  Form 3's don't cost the extra $200 tax between dealers, but then it switches from a form 3 to a form 4 to transfer to you, which does take longer due to background checks and other things because the SOT dealers have already had their background checks and are exempt with the licenses.

So, yes, it does take longer but not really due to the shutdown.
I do agree. I was told that The E-file on a Form 4 is still backed up and not much faster than sending in hard copy and I will for sure get my form 1 approval back first. The wait time did increase roughly 2-4 months after the shutdown opened back up but ive also heard recently they are starting to catch back up. I honestly do not know exact times and going by word of mouth only to be surprised with a 2 week turnaround on my form 1 Efile. I just assume the longest and hope for the shortest.

Here's a quick Video of the 2 stage Scorpitrol trigger. Sorry its phone quality but you can see its 1stage, wall, and break. It's right around 4.5lbs clean break and positive reset.  I'll get video next time I'm out.

Here's a side by side of OEM+ springs trigger vs the Scorpitrol. Its definately more robust and better quality than OEM in just material alone. The Trigger pack does NOT come with a trigger shoe. You have to use your OEM or any other aftermarket trigger. I used a Shooters Element Flat trigger which I think has the most forward angle out right now which shortens LOP nicely.
