Poly Coat Protection
« on: April 21, 2019, 04:20:52 PM »
I just bought two holsters - one for my new Cz 75 Compact (lined) and one for my new Cz 75 Sp-01 (unlined).  Will the poly coat finish on both guns provide more protection from wear than blued guns regardless of lining or not?  Would it be wise to silicone spray the innards of both holsters?

I have just read several articles on the net that say poly coat is much more durable than bluing.  Next to parkerizing polycoat seems to be the most durable.

There seems many differences of opinion as to the value of silicone spray on the innards, but no differentiation between lined or unlined.

Perhaps this is the most I will be able to obtain.  I think I am just going to use silicone wipes on the guns, let it dry and then hope for the best.

Thanks for your interest.

It depends on the type of blueing. I have a rust blued pre-b that I shoot in matches. Including dry fire practice, it's been in and out of a kydex holster thousands of times and doesn't show any wear. Look at lots of SP-01 Shadows that are used heavily and the polycoat will be very worn on the slide and dust cover. For carry guns, the polycoat has held up well for me though.
