Moment of Weakness - P-01
« on: May 01, 2019, 11:01:06 PM »
I have been thinking about a new P-07, buying it and installing the full CGW Pro Kit.  Today I saw online that one of the local gun stores had one in stock....so I drove down there to most likely purchase one and bring it home.  That WAS the plan anyway.

It turns out that they meant in stock at their distributor.  Not going to get to fondle one today!  The owner of the shop and I talked for a little bit - then he pulls out a brand new shiny TSO for me to fondle.  Oh man, that is SO nice.  I am resisting.  Still resisting!  I know once I get one - that?s ALL I will want to shoot.

So then he pulls out a P-01 that?s the same size as the P-07, weighs less than 1 ounce more, and that ALREADY has a CGW Pro Kit installed!  It feels exactly like my SP-01 Tactical - but with a nicer trigger. Trigger like butter!  Now I am beginning to break out in a sweat.  I came in for a $500 gun! Now I?m weighing the difference between a gun I haven?t touched yet, but fits my idea of what I wanted, another gun that fills exactly the same role - but feels in my hands exactly like one I already have - and of course the gun that costs 3X the amount I planned on spending that I really want ALSO.  These are tough decisions and I am WEAK!

So obviously I picked the P-01 to follow me home.... to get my range bag and 400 rounds of ammo!  Straight to the range I went. No use putting it off.  I deserve a treat today for almost controlling myself. (That?s my story and I?m sticking to it!) LOL This shoots JUST as well as I hoped it would.  I tested 115gr, 124gr, 135gr and 135+P through it with zero problems at all. It is not quite as accurate as the Tactical at say 25 yards, but still still very good. I bought it with the Tritium sights because it?s a carry gun, NOT a range toy and target pistol.  Still WAY better than my other carry guns.  And of course it does have a little bit more barrel flip compared with the Tactical, but I cannot get over how much it feels like the same gun in my hand. I?ve got matched pairs of other guns, and they still feel more different between them than this.

I will continue to shoot this for a few more outings before I declare it as my daily carry.  It WILL get a X10 barrel bushing though.  You know, just to see if the placebo effect works with this one as well as it did the other.

Sorry about no pics.... they all look alike in stock form anyway.  But oh man, what a SWEET gun.

Great story, and good choice on the P01!  One of the best models ever made, and imo the P07 is kinda meh
