Columbus Ohio Gunsmiths?
« on: May 13, 2019, 04:35:22 PM »
Is anyone in here from Columbus Ohio? I'm thinking about buying a HBI trigger for my P10c but I'm not brave enough to install it myself. Looking for someone that has done one before that can help me out. Thanks!

I am from Columbus Ohio and have used a GunSmith from AimHi range in New Albany. I also have used a guy name Steve who now works at the Bullet Ranch in Pataskala. Neither has specifically done and HBI trigger for me but I have a guy in New Albany do sites for my P01, and Steve has done trigger work for me on a PCR. Both seem pretty thorough knowledgeable and helpful.

If you'll look at the HBI instructions, you'll see that you're really not disassembling any of the more complicated parts of the gun.

1. You're lifting the trigger out by pushing out (not "hammering out") one pin. Then you slide out another pin with a tooth pick.

2. Then you depress the firing pin and pull down the rear of the slide to release the firing pin and exchange the FP spring. A normal cleaning operation.

The first time you do this operation, it might take you 20 whole minutes, max.

? You'll need to be able to do this because 1. they send several springs, and 2. you need to try all of them with your ammo to know which spring works best for YOU. So by having a smith do it, you're really (pardon the pun) shooting yourself in the foot.

? At lease try it yourself.
? Take digital photos as you go to help you remember.
? Then start a thread here is you get stumped.
