Shadow Target II is it legal?
« on: June 16, 2019, 07:09:33 PM »
New to IDPA and found out my S2 won't work. Is a Shadow Target II legal in SSP (also didn't know if there were 2000 units produced)?
I would think it would be legal in ESP but really curious about SSP.

Thanks, JH

The military base I work on had a Target 2 in their BX gun case.  I took 2 mags with me and the IDPA plastic box.  CZC basepad fit (on a 17 round MecGar mag) and so did the Springer basepad (on a 16 round CZ mag).  The stock basepad worked too!
When I'm ready for one I'll reach out to the CZ LE/MIL sales rep.  I'm in the same boat as you with the S2 and don't want to hack up a nice pistol.  Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.  I used to shoot USPSA eons ago and just trying to get started in IDPA because that's where most of my friends shoot. I've been to 2 club matches and a Tier 2 match where I hung out with the RO's all day and Holy Cow man, even they argue about the rules all dang day, including the equipment rules, and don't come to a consensus. How in the world do they expect the normal shooter to understand them all.

I bought the S2 before I thought about getting back into competition, but was sad to see it wouldn't be allowed. I would like to get a Shadow Target II for IDPA maybe. but no way in the world am I buying one without a confirmation it would be legal. I guess I need to just start shooting USPSA also so I can shoot the S2. I think it would be more fun anyway.

You can't beat the S2 in USPSA.  Keeping all the actions the same between the two pistols is appealing to me.  There is a lot of USPSA and IDPA around here so I like to play in both games.  I bring my box to IDPA matches in case they use one of those ugly, swollen wood boxes.

IDPA: CZ 75 Shadow SAO in ESP, Glock 17 and 34 Gen4 in SSP.  CZ P10-C in CCP.  Glock 21 in CDP.  New SSP gun will be the Target 2 when I get around to it.  The 9mm Glocks need to be put back into GSSF rotation.

USPSA:  Shadow 2 in Production, CZ 75 Shadow SAO in Limited Minor (for fun).

I like your line up, I'm still trying to verify if Shadow Target II is ok in SSP due to the production numbers.

It is good to go in IDPA.  For SSP you will have to start with hammer down, but you can also use it in ESP by starting with hammer cocked in SA mode, or also hammer down...your choice.
