They tell me not to stop in the candy shop on my day off
« on: June 28, 2019, 05:19:05 PM »
Stopped into an LGS near me today just to browse really. I’ve been considering a STI, CK, or LimCat lately for funning and maybe for running also. Just trying to justify what one will cost, and doing research. Was checking out some CZ’s (they have an AO1-LD I’ve nearly pulled the trigger on more than one visit), and was also wanting to eyeball a Sig P320 X-5 Coyote, but none in stock.

Now mind you, you can’t let me off my leash in a candy store. Got a case of sticky eyeballs when I saw the Rock Ultra. 10mm, Double Stack, 16+1, Magwell. Oh boy, I thought. This is trouble. But then of course, I’m justifying it by being good, as it’s 1/5th the cost of the 2011’s I was planning on picking up next, and 10mm!! Needless to say, it followed me home.

I ran by the local ammo warehouse and grabbed 800 rounds of Magtech 180gr to begin the break in and familiarization period with. Decided to wait to take it for a few laps tomorrow, as it’s pretty nasty out. Will report back after giving it some trigger time, but, for the price and all the features it comes with.... think I’m in love.  ;D

Have been looking/lurking at the ria ultra 10mm for a year or so but never found one local to handle yet. How is the grip? I have medium size hands and some large frame guns dont fit me well.

Jtracy,

The grip is fairly large, but nothing too crazy. Very well made firearm, and man that recoil spring is the heaviest I’ve ever come in contact with! Trigger is excellent, crisp, adjustable, and very short.  I don’t think you’d have any problems

Doc,

I got it right at 700 out the door, and they threw in a nice CZ USA / Dan wesson range bag (they’d already given me this when I walked in the door, for buying CZ’s from them), and an additional 16 round factory magazine as well, and the pistol usually only comes with one magazine.

that's a tank of a gun.i was at my LGS yesterday and the guy next to me was finishing up the paperwork on a RIA 10mm. so I asked him if I could look it over. granted, his wasn't the hi capacity like yours but still a tank. fit and finish were very nice. ive been eyebaliin the RIA 9/22tcm for a while. keep hearing the 22tcm rounds are a blast to shoot. some day.... lookin forward to a range report on your new 10mm 8)

That it is my friend. I was shocked at how heavy the tension on that recoil spring is. It’s like trying to lift a house! I shall report back after I get a chance to run it

It’s certainly a tugboat.  ;D I wore it around in a holster for an hour or two yesterday, with a good belt it’s definitely doable. But 8+ hours would probably get to be irritating.

All in all, it’s an impressive weapon system for the cost. I’ll be finally getting it out for a spin at some steel in the morning, I’ll post my opinions afterwards

Well, it’s certainly a blast to shoot. Absolutely INCREDIBLE value for the price and what you get for that. And the 10mm cartridge is a blast. Put about 250 flawless rounds of Magtech 180’s through her today, soon to receive some Underwood loads to try out, and want to order some Buffalo Bore to test out as well. All in all, me and my old man were both impressed. We took out or twin .40 TSO’s (got him one for Father’s Day a few weeks back), a 357 Mag, Sig P365, and the Rock Ultra 10. We had a blast. The Rock definitely impressed us both. He wants one now.  ;D We both loved the trigger and the feel of the gun, as well as the 10mm cartridge itself.

Here’s the free range bag the LGS gave me when I walked in, for buying so many CZ’s from them. Pretty sharp. CZ USA / Dan Wesson

Will report back as I continue to get the pistol broken in, but from where it stands right now, this has to be one of the very best overall values dollar for dollar for any firearm out there today. Absolutely impressive package, fit and finish, features, capacity, grips, trigger. And Armscor/RIA’s warranty is also excellent from what I understand. Very, very glad I picked one up. If you’re thinking about a double stack 1911 in 10mm, or any 10mm for that matter, your search begins and ends here. Untouchable for the price.
