Sig 365 NRA edition failure

 My new NRA edition sig p365 was returned to Sig today after having 7 failures to return to battery. This wasn't like any failure to return to battery I've ever seen before even with a empty chamber and no magazine the slide would stay open about a 1/4" until the gun was broke down and the recoil spring was removed and replaced. I think the recoil spring is jumping out of the little notch in the barrel and locking it up. I was running it wet and the extra lube my have made things worse but even after I cleaned off the excess lube it still failed. I had 7 failures out of 250 rounds fired  before I gave up I changed recoil springs with a fellow shooter and was able to shoot 2 boxes of Fed. range ammo without any problems. The guy from Sig customer service said my problem was a new one he hadn't seen before and I had a shipping label in about 10 min. I do want to like this little gun but I don't know if I'll ever trust it for EDC after what happened today.

Hope they get it sorted out for you. The recoil spring is no longer in contact with the barrel in any way when the slide is installed on the frame. Once you install the upper assembly on the frame the rear of the guide rod is lodged in a pocket in the frame and no longer in contact with the barrel at all. However it does sound like something is catching when the slide returns to battery and locks things up but without more info it's hard too say what part is the actual culprit.
Never had to deal with Sig service but my recently purchased Walther PPK/S had a similar failure which they were unable to repair and that gun was replaced by a completely different model by Walther.

I purchased one of the early SIG 365's (April 2018) and the trigger bar spring fell off after only 65 rounds. (known early production issue, outsourced part) However, SIG went the extra mile, replaced the entire slide and striker assembly, and turned it around in just a couple weeks. Since getting it back I've shot almost 3,000 rounds of all types of ammo without a single failure of any kind. It's an amazing little pistol.

Have faith, SIG will make it right!

Sorry to hear about the trouble. However, as others have stated Sig will take care of it. They have excellent customer service for sure.

Hopefully, Sig will take care of your Pistol and you won't have any further issues with it.
The P365's certainly have had their issues, which I hope have been sorted out.

I had to ship my April 2018 P365 to Sig twice for a broken trigger spring and for a broken firing pin within the first 600 rds. Although frustrating, I got it back within 2 weeks.  Sig CS is great, but I lost confidence in my P365 so I reverted back to my Glock 43, which has been 100% reliable.

  i had one also, few issues, was taken care, went back to my trusty LC9S, easier for my wife to rack, easily as accurate, better trigger. traded that one in.

 Well it's back from Sig service the work order says replaced recoil springs and test fired no issues. But a close inspection shows they also replaced the barrel my barrel had wear marks now it doesn't. I'm going to the range after lunch to see if it's fixed.

 It's on it's way back to Sig again for the same failure only this time I figured out what the problem is. After firing less than 20 rounds today I noticed why the slide was staying open about 1/4" the little cover or plate that holds the striker in was sliding down and keeping the slide from closing. Sig service replaced the recoil spring and never looked any further I think Sig needs to hire a gunsmith not a parts changer. I'm back to carrying my CZ Rami bd It's thicker and a few more oz. but has never let me down.

 It is back from it's second trip back to Sig and is now 100% my total round count has passed 950 rounds without any failures in the last 450 rounds. My normal pressure rounds hit about 2 1/2" low and my SD Speer gold dot 124gr. +p rounds POI are about 1/2" low at 10 to 15 yards.  I'm also not a fan of the combat sights covering my whole target but I can live with it.

Good to hear SIG finally made it right. 
Mine has passed 3000 flawless since SIG fixed, and the trigger seems to be getting better and better, or I'm just getting used to it.
