RAMI with Red Dot: WOW!

RAMI with a Red Dot?
I know this question has come up, and I've posted this in the Red Dot section previously, but this is an excellent combination that gives you a sub-compact pistol, with the accuracy of one with a much longer barrel/sight radius:

CGW did the slide milling and mounted the RMR on a Dueck plate with a built-in BUIS rear and front sight. They did a beautiful job! The RMR with wide mount hole pattern requires a plate anyhow. Because my 'ol eyes coundn't see the Dueck black front iron, I had them mill off and added a custom Dawson .320 tall x .125 wide green front FO that serves me better for BUIS. Honestly though, I just use the optic and never even need to look at the BUIS. They're there just in case and if nothing else they provide confidence.

And CGW is one of the few that understand the mill cut has to be > 2 degrees forward pitch relative to the top of slide. Look at how tall your RAMI rear sight is compared to your front sight and you'll understand why this is important.

Otherwise you may need to use angled shims under the optic to get it to zero.
It might not sound like much, but 1 degree of tilt equals about 6-7" of elevation at 10 yards (defensive range).

The OWB Kydex holster is by Vedder with extra relief for a taller front sight. I did have to file away a little material to accommodate the RMR but it didn't affect the lock-in secure retention in any way.

Just thought I'd share.  -Vinny

Hmmmm, quite the set-up. Plus it doesn't appear to effect concealablity too much either...if at all.

Would like to see some target photos using your set-up.

Duckman, I'm away on vacation for a few weeks, but here's an image from last year when I was 1st zeroing. Quick fire at 15 yards, 1st round D/A went a bit low. Red bulls-eye on this target is 1-1/2" diameter.
The RAMI is mechanically very accurate, it's only a question of holding the dot where you want it to go.
Now, if I were 40 years younger, and I could still see the target and irons at the same time.....But with my 'ol eyes, the Red Dot keeps me in the game.  ::)
