CZ USA extended compact barrel
« on: August 10, 2019, 05:09:48 PM »
In researching markings and barrel lengths for the various compacts, Stuart reminded me that CZ used to make an extended compact barrel that was about 4.1" in length. Did anyone ever purchase one? What would be the use for one? They're too short to thread and they now sell factory threaded 4.2" compact barrels anyway. I recall once reading that bullet performance was almost identical with barrel lengths between 3.75"-4". I can't imagine that performance would be that much greater with a barrel between 4.1"-4.2". Was the idea to maybe port one like the S&W 3rd gen Recon series?

To my knowledge the full size extended barrels were a product of Australian gun laws pertaining to minimum barrel length. Then because they looked different some folks in the U.S. wanted them. I am unclear on the the story behind the Compact extended barrels.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)
