Ambidextrous Magazine Catch (Release) Problems
« on: August 21, 2019, 01:51:04 PM »
Just an FYI on Ambidextrous Magazine Catch (Release) Problems -

I was having trouble with a CZ82 not wanting to release the magazine.  The left side would not work at all and the right side would barely release the mag.  I took the trigger guard assembly out and cleaned / polished / lubed the magazine catch components to almost no avail.  Tried substituting 'working' Mag Catch and Lever parts, but the left side was still no good.

Finally installed a NEW Magazine Catch Push Button with all the rest of the original 'worn' components and both sides now work nicely.  I thought for sure the worn out (sic) Mag Catch and Lever were the problem, but it was the worn 'V' notch in the Button itself.  It was worn quite evenly, but I suppose there was simply too much metal gone and the notch was too deep to properly work the Lever.

Next time I have trouble releasing the magazine in a CZ82/83, the Mag Catch Push Button (P/N: 0330-0601-01ND) is the first thing I will suspect.

Hope this may save someone a little time.
