Kadet 2 on an 75 B Omega & slide lock open on empty magazines
« on: August 25, 2019, 11:20:52 AM »
I just picked up a new 75 B Omega convertible specifically for primary use with my Kadet 2 kit. The magazines will not hold the slide open at all on the omega pistol. I've used the kit on an SP-01 Tactical and on a 75BD and one of the magazines will sometimes hold the slide open but the other never holds the slide open.

I love shooting my Kadet 2 but it's disappointing that the incredibly expensive magazines won't hold the slide open as advertised. I've searched the forum and can't really find any real solution to this problem, but it seems that sometimes, a good magazine cleaning may help. I will do that today, but I'm skeptical as even when the kit was new, this was hit or miss.

I'm open to any suggestions.

Still hoping that our friends at Mec-Gar will someday make a reasonably priced, replacement magazine, but I suspect the market isn't big enough for them.

If you haven't already; try using the Omega Slide Stop with the KADET Kit

Also, with the Upper off, and the Slide Stop in, insert the Magazines and see how the Followers interface with the Slide Stop
Note how  / if the Follower raises the Slide Stop to its full height
If not, the Slide Stop Spring could be your issue
Try inserting just the Tip of the Slide Stop, from the Right Side, just under the Spring and rotating the Stop several times
This helps loosen the Spring a bit
Also you can knock the hard corner off of the Spring Groove in the Slide Stop too

So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Thank you for the suggestions.  :D

The magazines indeed pushed the kit slide stop all the way up with no upper installed, so I filed the front edge as you suggested and put the slide stop in from the other side just past the spring and worked it back & forth for 10 or 15 minutes. I then thought "why stop there" so I got out some Mother's Metal Polish & Qtips and polished the slide stop, especially focusing on the notched area & the areas where it makes contact with the frame & spring on both sides, then the entire circumference down the entire length of the slide stop. I then polished the inside of the hole in the barrel lug.

I reattached the Kadet upper and the slide stop & the magazines now seem to hold the slide open. I'll take it to the range next weekend and see if this continues to be the case during actual use.

My new Kadet 2 kit came with two slide stops, I believe one was for use with a 75 and the other was for the P-01.  The first one I tried on my 75B Omega convertible didn't work, the other one functions perfectly after hundreds of rounds of various ammo in both SV and HV.

Mine only came with one slide stop, but this one seems like it will work now. I should be able to get to the range this weekend and test it out.

The older KADET 2 Kits only came with the one Slide Stop "CZ75 KADET CAL 22LR"
Later on, (since they were sending out so many) CZ started adding a Slide Stop for the PCR and other Alloy Framed Host Guns
They are easy to distinguish one from the other:

My Kadet 2 came with two slide stops. The first one I tried worked with the 75 Omega just fine.
It did not, however work with a couple of different pre-b’s. Those would lock back prematurely. But they functioned fine with their normal slide stops.
I think I eventually tried the other supplied stop and it wouldn’t work with either.  That’s gotta be a bit of a conundrum for CZ; all of the minor variants that differ enough dimensionally to negate a one-part-fits-all solution. At least they have the different parts and are willing to help find one that’ll do the trick.
