Talkin' about triggers...
« on: August 28, 2019, 08:02:26 PM »
I just picked up my PCR a few days ago.

These have a long trigger creep at the sear before releases. Im not talking about the first part trigger slack take up, the actual  sear creep length before it releases.

Are all the compact 75s, semi autos, all like this...... Im mostly a SA revolver guy, used to light, crisp, no creep triggers

One thing I noticed, is my PCR has the black colored trigger, looks and shape is exactly like the P-01 trigger, and it is smooth where your finger touches. Not the silver colored with the serrated finger area

As a general, in factory configuration all CZ75 variants will have some Single Action trigger creep. It is a product of the depth of the factory hammer hooks and is made more noticeable to some degree by an effect of the factory hammer geometry (hammer camming). This creep can be eliminated for the most part with the installation of an after market hammer. The after market hammers have shallower hammer hooks and an altered geometry. I have found this to be a subjective topic, some folks never notice it and others do.

If you take a close look at the sear/hammer engagement point while pulling the trigger in SA you can witness the distance that the sear must rise up to clear the hammer hooks and release the hammer forward. If observed from the side during the start of the sear movement in SA you can also witness the factory hammer camming. The hammer will move rearward a bit before the hammer drops.

As to the triggers, CZ uses different triggers on some shipments of some models for reasons that i am not aware of. I have always know the PCR to ship with a silver trigger with a serrated face but i have seen a number of cases where they have come from the factory with a Black Recurve trigger. To my knowledge the Balck Recurve is typically standard on the CZ97BD,P-01,SP-01 Safety/Tac, RAMI safety/BD models among others.

Gratz on your new PCR. May it run flawlessly.

The right hammer from CZ Custom or Cajun Gun Works (so far I've only used CGW) makes a world of difference in the SA trigger pull.

All mine are thumb safety models but the SA trigger pull is still the SA trigger pull whether it's a B or a BD.  B = firing pin block (with thumb safety) or BD = firing pin block with a decocking lever.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Yes.  To me, a new hammer makes the most difference to me.  And, all mine are decockers.

Here is something Schmeky recommended to me awhile back.......

Hard to beat:

61050 extended FP
HS-13 hammer spring
61100 FP retaining pin

Smooth's the action, cuts DA nearly 50%, but stays 100% reliable.

I think the Defensive Carry Package is a good way to go. it covers just about everything. With those parts and some polishing of the internal contact surfaces you can get a very sooth consistent DA and a nice short SA. From there it will continue to improve from breakin in around 200-500 rounds. At that point you might start thinking about adding another CZ, just go with it.  ;D

You may want to shoot it in factory configuration to determine if the Black Recurve trigger causes you trigger bite. A good number of folks end up swapping them out due to comfort. I like the Original/Old style 85c trigger.

Replacement sights are an option if you feel the need. CZ Customs and CGW both offer a good number of after market CZ sight options.

Are you doing your own work or sending your pistol into the shop?
