SAO vs Pro Package
« on: September 19, 2019, 08:17:30 AM »
I have an SP-01, manual safety, that I have run in a couple of matches.  I grew up on Striker pistols, and in fact, I carry a P10C for my ccw, so I am used to a light(er), short(er), crisp(er) trigger break than my SP-01.  I have a little bit of CGW upgrades done to the SP, and all the internals are polished, so it is definitely nicer than a bone stock SP, but still the trigger pull is different enough that I tend to dip the gun a little on my second trigger pull on "double taps."

So, my question is, how different is the trigger feel between SAO and the ProPackage?  During competition, you load and make ready at the beginning, thus starting in SA anyway, so I guess my question pertains strictly to the SA mode of the Pro Package vs SAO.  Looking for feedback between the two.

All of my CZ's with Cajun or CZC hammers have a much cleaner trigger break than my P10C(also tuned). I would also say the wall is a bit better defined as well, particularly on the two I have with SAO conversions. Both of my SAO guns have  oem hammer springs and CGW reduced power trigger return springs - right at 2lb pull with a little less travel than the P10. The fpb in your SP-01 will negate some of the travel reduction possible with an SAO conversion. What class are you shooting in that allows a hammer back start on a DA/SA pistol?

Why are you convinced the issue with your follow up shots is related to the DA pull of the first shot?

And as the poster above asked... where are you competing that allows an SA start with a DA/SA pistol?

It's a USPSA shoot, though could be "non-sanctioned."  I'm not exactly sure what that means.  I'm new to the competition aspect.  I'm not a USPSA member, and am not trying to compete nationally or even locally, just trying to get better for myself.  I've been shooting IDPA and USPSA -type events for a while that local range clubs just set up and run on their own.

It could just be that the RO who ran my group didn't give a bleep.  I know he saw me holster it that way.  Holstering his Glock with a shortened 3# trigger is absolutely less safe than my long travel, 5-6# SA trigger with hammer back.

I'm thinking it's the longer trigger pull because I am untrained at running the gun as-is and am still not used to the trigger in it.  I don't have the same issue with my P10.  In fact, if I pull a double tap shot with the P10, it's usually higher.  I'm not saying it's not a training issue; I know it is.  That doesn't negate the fact that the trigger could be made to be more similar to my P10 than it is now, and besides that, there's no reason NOT to.  I mean I could just get a P10F and train with even more similar platforms, but I just love my SP-01 so much.   8)
