Magpul mags released tomorrow?
« on: October 02, 2019, 03:43:37 PM »
Magpul just posted this on Facebook a hour ago.

Also, Palmetto State Armory had a "in stock" listing briefly earlier today.

Just got an email from PSA with these in stock.

I am interest in how these will compare with the PSA mags.

When someone gets some, let us know how they look and work.

More expensive at $18.95 “on sale” and no metal fees lips.  PSA was smart to get theirs out first.

If they're as good as PMags, they won't need metal feed lips. AKV mags are cheaper, but they won't reliably lock the bolt back in my Scorpion.

I'm going to wait till there's some reviews before I buy some though.

Are you using the PSA Scorpion ONLY mags and what gen PSAs do you have?  All my PSA of different gens lock the bolt back.

Got plenty of the PSA AK-v mags, not interested. Not impressed with any of Magpul's stuff for the CZ. I exclusively run their mags, stocks and grips on my rifles both AR and AK but they missed the ball on the CZ stuff while HBI and PSA hit the ball awhile back.

I just got them a week ago, so I assume they're current mags. They are not scorpion specific mags.

I bought 15 and was given one by a friend. The single I was given is at least a few months old.

I've tried 2 from my 15 and the one my buddy gave me, and none of those 3 reliably lock the bolt back.

The opaque factory CZ mags DO reliably lock the bolt back.

I'm not slamming the akv mags either btw. Just putting that info out there. I still like them and will continue to use them, but I won't buy anymore of them if the magpuls function properly.

I'm sure I'll pick some magpul mags up when I can find them in hand.  I hope they work out; they tend to do a good job.

Just got 2 in today. My initial impression is positive, but I haven't shot them yet. They lock in nice and solid and drop free easy. Side by side with the PSA mags the quality and finish of the Magpul mags seems much better. I don't think these will take any sanding or other work to get them GTG, unlike so many other Scorpion mags. I have the Avalanche extended mag release and they work fine with it. Being Magpul mags, they feel very solid and I'm confident they'll outlive me. They look good, too.

They are most definitely NOT re-branded PSA mags, BTW, they just look and feel higher quality, and the molding seems superior at a glance. They are notched so that you can tell roughly how many rounds you've got in there. They are also shorter than the PSA mags by about 0.5cm and the retention system cut is slightly different. The hatch pattern also provides a slightly more solid gripping surface than the PSA mags.

If they cycle OK (as I expect with Magpuls) then I will be buying these from now on instead of the factory or PSA mags.

I finally got to shoot one I ordered from AIM surplus.  Cycled just fine.  Bolt held open each time it went empty.  Did not fall out of mag well under recoil/closed bolt like those newer black CZ mags do in my carbine. What was the fix for that by the way?

I have a 2017 carbine, mostly stock including mag release and it worked great.  Might see how other users fared with theirs, but I'd buy some more.  The polymer seems like the same type polymer quality of the Magpul AK 7.62 mags I've had, for what it's worth.
I've never tried PSA.

*Edit: .... and it does drop free.

I bought three magpuls, had failure to feed multiple times with all three mags. Pop in a AKV mag in between just to make sure it wasn't gun and not one issue with the AKVs or CZs. Not sure what the issue is yet.

Hmm.  Honestly, I would like a few more if they functioned like the single one I purchased to try out.  Definitely an massive improvement over generations of factory mags for me.  I would easily fade out whats left of my smoke mags once they fail.

Curious now how others are doing with theirs.

I ordered mine through Brownells back in February.   I confirmed with them today that I still want them.     Should be here in a few days
