CZ P10

Why does the CZ P10 look similar to Glocks? What's up with that?

Why ask why? Striker fired pistols largely ALL look the same. Black plastic and as though some 4 year old carved them out of balsa wood.

Today's handguns are just like the cookie cutter cars they make.If they didn't put the name on them you'd never be able to tell what brand they are.

Other than the name on the slide, there's nothing about the P10 that says "CZ" to me. I have one and it's a great pistol, though not my favorite. There's nothing wrong with a company branching out into new territory, especially if they do it well. Judging by all the P10's I'm seeing out and about, CZ hit the target they were aiming for.
To be honest,  I was a little worried that polymer and strikers would now be CZ's primary focus, but the DWX shows that they haven't forgotten about us hammer/competitive shooters.

I don’t see the resemblance.  Sure, they both have triggers in roughly the same area and both have slides on the top of the frame, but the grips are shaped differently and slides lack the block shape Glock is famous for.  I have both and like both.  Just don’t see where there’s much more of a similarity between these and a 1911 vs. Beretta or S&W and Ruger revolver.

They look similar because CZ took the desirable Glock 19 as a prototype and then refined various bits and pieces, and in my opinion, created a better firearm.

It may look similar.  There are definitely other pistols that look even more similar, so I'm not sure why the question even deserves a post.  However, having owned several Glocks in the past and trying to like them because the aftermarket support is so huge, I've sold every single one.  I now own a P10C and a P10F, and with the large backstrap installed, the F feels and points exactly like my SP-01 in my hand.  THAT is something the Glock will never accomplish in its current form.

I'm also noticeably more accurate with both of my P10's than any of the Glocks I've owned in the past.  I'm not saying it is inherently more accurate, but the pistol is undeniably different enough, somewhere, that it makes a difference for me.  In other words, they are not the same pistol.

Just my opinion, Glocks are ugly. Simple gun shaped weapon. No character. Great quality, fires under water, full of dirt but never owned one nor will I ever. Just like the Sig. Great weapon, but not for me. Many manufacturers copy it's looks. To me it's like 5 point star pattern wheels. Every manufacturer has a set, most several designs, but I don't like star pattern wheels. I like the way a CZ looks and feels. A 1911, a Rossi .357. Just some handguns look good. Same with rifles, walk into any gun shop, all the rifles lined up behind the counter hard to tell one brand from another. But there are some that stand out. Especially when they have a wood stock. I also like the new tactical chassis you can buy for rifles, like the Tikka. When I saw the p10 first thing I thought was GLOCK!.

After thinking about it, I think the thing I really dislike is poly frames. I know they save weight and keep costs down, at least they claim it keeps costs down. But poly guns are still $700+ so where's the cost saving? When I see guns like 1911 that were 1/4-1/2 their current price maybe 10 years ago. I don't see the poly frame saving any money on the consumer side. I know it has a lot to do with supply and demand. If they weren't great, they wouldn't cost so much. And anti gun weenies have driven up taxes and cost jobs. I'm stopping before I go on a rant about stupid people and breeding.

If you're seeing $700+ for a P10, you're looking in the wrong place.

I'm talking about sigs and glocks costing that much. Most other poly framed handguns are fairly inexpensive. Even some HKs and the new 941.. I have a new Taurus I paid just over $200 with shipping. Bought it from a dealer I found locally. He can give you a good price but you have to pay shipping. He works from his home. I thought about new glock or sig but the prices were way high. Then thought to buy used but found out some could have thousands of rounds through them but still look great. So you don't know if you have a gun that will last decades, or one thats about to fail.

Some guns are just overpriced and some are very well worthy of the cost. I don't like glocks or any other striker fired pistol for that matter and yes I understand these are the current favorite among many and that's  fine for those who like them but I don't feel one bit bad about the money I've spent on my metal framed CZ's, Sig's, and Beretta's.
That said if you think you got a deal on your taurus that's awesome. If I had a choice between an ball bat and a taurus I'll take the bat EVERY time. You paid too much for what you got.
