CZ Truglo Pro Orange for CZ 75 thumbs down
« on: November 07, 2019, 04:12:57 AM »
Bought some via ebay and in a word they kind of suck . Decided to send them back the orange was dull best way to describe it. Compared to Trijicon not even close . Even Night Fision for my P-09 is way better . Why bother making a sub par front sight ? I like HD because my aging eyes can see them better . I guess will stick with stock sights until some good comes along in HD sights .

Confused - is this the tritium front sight with the orange fiber-optic ring? Was the tritium dim?

I have them on my SP-01 and love them. I guess the orange could be brighter, but my old eyes sure like them. Wish I could get them for the RAMI!

Tritium does have a "shelf-life" and if the Sights were old stock when you bought them, they would be dim right out of the box
Half-life is 12 years, but the shelf-life is about 6 years from date of manufacture
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Orange ring goes around the tritium vial . It was the dullness of the ring . What model SP-01 do you have ?

Plain vanilla just SP-01 as far as I know. Used to be DA/SA. Someone put in or had it Cajunized with SA and a flat trigger/adjustable sear (which I have no clue about what that does). Bought it used for cheap. With the Truglo sight I put on now it is so sweet to shoot! Didn't even know what it was when we bought it, it just called to us and we took it home. I was going to put the DA and old trigger back in it, but after shooting it decided it was a fine toy the way it was.

For my 'ol eyes I tried Dawson FO, TFX Pro, XS Big Dots, SIG X-Ray3 etc and although better than factory sights, none of them really allowed me to see both the sights and target simultaneously at distances much past 10 yards. Sucks getting old.

Finally solved the issue by having CZC mill my SP-01 TAC for a DPPro Red Dot. Bingo!!
After a short learning curve I'm able to just focus on the target and place the dot. Fast and Accurate again out to 20+ yards.

As an alternative for older eyes.... I had my optometrist take some measurements which allowed me to have a (cheap) pair of specs made by ZenniOptical.

The lens in front of my dominant eye is focused on the front-sight - and the other is focused at normal long distance. I shoot with both eyes open, so I get to see both the target and the front sight in crisp focus.

I just saw recently someone used Testors fluorescent orange paint and a needle to paint the outer ring on his front sight. Might be a good cheap way to freshen that sight up.

On all of our regular sights we use the fabric paint we get at JoAnns or WalMart to paint our sights. It sticks amazingly well even through solvent cleanings. Comes in all kinds of bright flourescent colors. You get a lifetime supply for $1-$2. Want to change the color? Just scrape it off and put on another.
