CZ tso slide to frame
« on: November 10, 2019, 07:09:12 PM »
Hello all,

Bought my first cz a few days ago, a tso in 9mm. Despite having it for less than a week the gun is already becoming my favorite handgun. Performance is fantastic and repeatable.

My only concern is the slide to frame fit. I've noticed that there is a fair amount of vertical play. Is this normal or a cause for concern? I am not too concerned because the pistol performs fantastically, but i just want to check with you all.

Thanks ahead of time!

"A fair amount of play" when the slide is fully forward and locked up ready to fire?  Or when it's anywhere else on the slide?

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

It is luck of the draw from the factory with all of the CZs that i have seen. It is my understanding that the TSO has some hand fitted parts but i am not sure about the slide to frame.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Is there any mechanical issue I should be worried about? Thing shoots 1inch groups at 25yards offhand, which is far better than i typically manage

Not that i am aware of. I have a CZ 75 Shadow that has a solid rattle from the slide to frame. It runs fine and shoots well so i put it to the back of my mind.

The idea is to be reliable, shoot good groups and feel good in your hand.

If it does all that I wouldn't worry about it.

Evidently the loose slide to frame fit isn't hurting your groups.

To get good groups one of the things the pistol has to do is have consistent barrel to sights alignment shot after shot.  If your pistol shoots good then it must be doing that in spite of the slide to frame fit not being real tight.

Benefit to your pistols set up is it should be more reliable.  Run longer without having malfunction issues due to powder residue built up.

I had a buddy in college who only bought the best.  He bought a High Standard target pistol.  Nice pistol.  He could get a box of Eley match ammo through it no problem.  Early into the second box he'd get failures (slide would eject the empty but not fully chamber the next round) and he'd have to pull the slide, wipe it off, lube it and put it back together to keep shooting.  That would frustrated me to no end.  He felt it was worth it.  I don't think you'll have that problem.

I have two TSO's and they both have a tight slide to frame fit.   One of them has some vertical play as you describe.  It is my best shooter if the two.

If your shooting 1 inch groups at 25yds your pistol is a keeper.

Cheers,
Toby
